Jalen Hurts erupts after mandatory concussion evaluation costs Eagles a touchdown image
The Bears nearly jumped out to a 14-0 lead over the Eagles on "Monday Night Football," but a defensive stop turned into a prime opportunity for Philadelphia to make it a 14-point swing.
As the Eagles worked their way into the red zone, however, Jalen Hurts was pulled off the field for a concussion evaluation, frustrating the former Super Bowl MVP and proving costly for Philadelphia's offense.

Hurts appeared to be pulled off the field at the request of the NFL's independent concussion spotter after taking a hard hit to the chin from Chicago's D'Marco Jackson:
Saquon Barkley quickly took the Eagles up to the Bears' 1-yard line, but with Andy Dalton in the game in place of Hurts, Philadelphia couldn't run its ultra-successful "tush push" to get that elusive yard.
Barkley was stood up twice, and Dalton's third-down pass was intercepted in the end zone by rookie safety Dillon Thieneman, ending the scoring opportunity. The Bears turned it into three points on the other end.
Hurts was cleared around the same time the Eagles' drive ended, and ESPN cameras captured him directing some frustration in the direction of the tent:

Since the end of the 2011 season, the NFL has deployed athletic trainer (AT) spotters to every game. The AT spotter's role is "to observe play on the field and monitor the broadcast feed of that game to identify players who may potentially be injured on a play, with an emphasis on concussions and other head and neck injuries," the league says.
The spotter can communicate with each team's medical staff to signal that a player should be taken off the field and evaluated for a concussion, as Hurts was on Monday night.
