It was another big summer of change for Liverpool as the Reds appointed a new head coach and brought in five new signings, though there were several notable outgoings too, as another new era began

Liverpool has begun the 2026/27 campaign in promising fashion, with new head coach Andoni Iraloa winning four of his first seven games in charge and remaining undefeated.
The Reds, however, already sit six points behind leaders Manchester City in the Premier League standings after failing to beat Newcastle, Nottingham Forest and Fulham in three of their opening five games, leaving them dwelling outside the top five on goal difference.
While money was once again splashed over the summer to bring in the likes of Bradley Barcola ($140 million), Jeremy Jacquet ($73 million) and Victor Munoz ($45.7 million) — with Ronald Araujo arriving on loan from Barcelona — several notable figures went the other way.
With the ongoing international break signaling the first checkpoint of the season, Liverpool.com takes a look at how the six first-team players to leave Anfield over the summer have been getting on.
Mohamed Salah
The biggest departure of the summer, Mohamed Salah brought the curtain down on his nine-year reign at Liverpool at the end of the 2025-26 season, eventually signing for Turkish outfit Trabzonspor. After his arrival at Papara Park was announced on August 6, Salah made his debut for the club nine days later in a 1-1 draw away to Kasimpasa in the Super Lig, coming on as a 58th-minute substitute. Since then, things arguably couldn't have gone better for the 34-year-old.

In his next seven games in all competitions, Salah scored in five of them, providing seven goals and two assists, including a brace in a 2-1 defeat of Basaksehir and a hat-trick in a 4-0 mauling of reigning Super Lig champion Galatasaray in Trabzonspor's final game before the international break.
Andy Robertson
Like Salah, long-serving left-back Andy Robertson also departed Liverpool at the end of last season upon the expiry of his Reds contract, bringing to an end an equally remarkable nine-year spell at Anfield. Unlike his former Egyptian teammate, however, Robertson opted to remain in the Premier League, signing for Roberto De Zerbi's Tottenham, and made his competitive debut for the club in its 3-0 defeat to Brentford on the opening weekend of the season.

The Scotland international has started all but one of Tottenham's five Premier League games, helping to keep a clean sheet against Everton and providing an assist in the 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa last time out, while there was even an Anfield reunion earlier this month when he came off the bench in his side's 3-1 loss to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup.
Ibrahima Konate
The third first-team regular to run down his contract and depart Liverpool at the end of the previous campaign was defender Ibrahima Konate, with the Frenchman opting for a fresh challenge at Real Madrid rather than agreeing to new terms with the Reds. Since signing for the Spanish giant, though, Konate has played every single minute of each of the seven games he has featured in, with his only absence coming in the La Liga side's third match of the season against Malaga, when he was an unused substitute.

Slotting in alongside former Bournemouth star Dean Huijsen, Konate has become trusted by new head coach Jose Mourinho, though he has failed to keep a single clean sheet all season, while Real Madrid has already lost two games to fall six points behind Barcelona in the league.
Curtis Jones
Liverpool's biggest summer sale, Curtis Jones ended his 16-year association with his boyhood club to join Italian champion Inter Milan in a deal worth up to $40 million in August, having fallen down the pecking order in the Reds' midfield. His switch to Italy saw him become the third Englishman to sign for the Serie A giant over the summer, following in the footsteps of John Stones and Djed Spence, and he's since made five appearances for his new club.

Just two of those have come as starts, however, against Real Madrid in the Champions League and Roma in Serie A, though they were two of Inter's final three games before the international break, suggesting he could soon become a permanent fixture in head coach Cristian Chivu's midfield.
Stefan Bajcetic
Like Jones, fellow academy graduate Stefan Bajcetic also moved on to pastures new this summer, having agreed a three-year deal to return to his boyhood club, Celta Vigo, six years after leaving the Spanish outfit. Despite making 19 appearances in a breakout season under Jurgen Klopp in 2022-23, Bajcetic failed to kick on after suffering a series of long-term physical setbacks, eventually leading to his exit this summer after going over two full years without a senior appearance.

Since his return to Spain last month, however, Bajcetic has yet to set foot on a football pitch as he continues his rehabilitation, though he has been officially registered with Celta's reserve team in the Spanish third division to help him return to competitive fitness.
Rhys Williams
Another academy graduate who made a promising start to his Liverpool senior career, only for things to peter out, is defender Rhys Williams, who departed the Reds after 16 years at the end of last season following the expiry of his contract.
The 25-year-old notably made 19 appearances under Klopp in the injury-hit 2020-21 season, yet failed to feature for Liverpool over the next five seasons, instead going out on loan to Swansea, Blackpool, Aberdeen, Port Vale and Morecambe prior to his departure.
As things stand, however, Williams remains a free agent. While he spent time training with Major League Soccer (MLS) side New York Red Bulls and with League One outfit Burton Albion over the summer, he failed to earn a contract with either club.
