Liverpool defender Jeremy Jacquet has been the Merseyside club’s best player this season. He has been unbelievably consistent in these early days.
The Reds beat out the competition to sign him earlier this year and left him on loan in France. Unfortunately, he suffered a long-term injury but has recovered remarkably.
Representing the French national team for the first time, the Liverpool centre-back has continued his imperious performances.
Jacquet was the best player on the pitch as Les Bleus claimed a hard-fought win over Belgium in the Nations League, via a goal from Liverpool target Michael Olise.

He won 6/9 duels, 2/4 tackles, and made three clearances. He made one progressive carry, won a foul, completed 3/6 long balls and 69/75 passes (92 percent accuracy).
The 21-year-old was outstanding beside Maxence Lacroix, and both men made solid cases for themselves in the absence of William Saliba.
L’Equipe gave him their highest rating (8/10). Another publication wrote, “The Liverpool defender showed he belongs on the international level.
“Making his debut for Les Bleus, the defender wasn’t fazed by the occasion. He looked comfortable on the ball and assured when he was called into action.”
Jacquet is already looking like an excellent signing for Liverpool.
His latest performances suggest the Reds have a defender who could become a cornerstone of their backline for years to come.
His in-game IQ, composure, physicality and ability to play out from the back have all stood out.
Meanwhile, his rapid recovery from a serious injury makes his progress even more impressive.
Now partnering Virgil van Dijk at club level, Jacquet has the perfect opportunity to learn from one of the finest centre-backs of his generation.
He also looks capable of eventually taking the mantle from the Dutchman as Van Dijk enters the twilight of his career.
If Jacquet continues developing at this rate, Liverpool could have already found their long-term defensive leader.
