The 27-year-old Liverpool striker was asked a series of quickfire questions but opted to stay clear of any reference to his time at St James’ Park. Instead, he even suggested the highlight of his career in England was securing a record £130million move to Merseyside in 2025.

That’s despite Isak scoring 62 goals in 109 appearances for Newcastle prior to joining Liverpool.

Isak previously admitted he was playing the best football of his career at Newcastle and, given he’s scored just eight goals in 29 appearances since joining Liverpool, it would be hard to argue otherwise.

After stating the best player he had played with was David Silva at Real Sociedad and his most underrated teammate is Curtis Jones at Liverpool, Isak was asked for his best Premier League memory.

Despite scoring 54 times for Newcastle in the Premier League and helping the club twice qualify for the Champions League, he claims his best Premier League memory was his departure from Tyneside.

“Signing with Liverpool,” Isak told Viaplay. He also stated his proudest moment of his career was playing at the World Cup with Sweden in the summer before stating his dream is football was to win a ‘massive’ trophy.

It’s hard to know what constitutes as a ‘massive’ trophy to Isak, but it’s clear it’s not the Carabao Cup he won with Newcastle against Liverpool in 2025, nor the Copa del Rey with Sociedad in 2020. The Champions League, Premier League or World Cup perhaps? He didn’t elaborate.

Alexander Isak withdraws from Sweden squad

After an injury-hit first season at Liverpool, Isak has now suffered a fresh blow that has forced him to withdraw from the Sweden squad early. The striker was spotted with a bloody toe after scoring in Sweden’s 2-1 win over Romania on Friday.

A statement released by Liverpool read: “Alexander Isak is to return to Liverpool from international duty due to a minor injury.

“The striker will not be involved in Sweden’s three remaining fixtures in the current international break and will now be assessed by club medical staff at the AXA Training Centre.

“The Reds’ season resumes when Manchester City visit Anfield on Sunday October 11.”
