September 29 – Barcelona are once again trying to increase their commercial revenue by launching long-term VIP seat licences for premium seating at the recently renovated Spotify Camp Nou.

In what many believe is the continued Americanisation of European football, Barca are set to make 2,000 seat licences available through Legends Global for the handsome price of between €200,000-210,000. That works out at around €22,000 per annum, with licences available from between 15 to 30 years.

It follows a first phase that locked in more than €380 million from 5,000 seats, with suites and box options now fully sold out.

At the end of 2024 Barcelona sold licences on 475 VIP seats to two Middle East investors for €100 million – prior to the building of said seats.

The activation of that financial lever allowed the club to register Dani Olmo, at least until a new LaLiga auditor refused to count money for seats nobody could sit in.

The league cut the club’s salary limit, the two sides traded statements, and Barça ended up fitting VIP seats at the Johan Cruyff just to prove they existed. The auditor eventually accepted €70 million.

This time it’s four times as many seats and a proper hospitality partner.

Barcelona needs the money to fuel their various projects. Espai Barça, which funds the Camp Nou renovations, now costs €1.8 billion after another €510 million was approved, triple the 2014 estimate.

A final competition date for the facility is set for 2029. Camp Nou is heading to 105,000, the Estadi Johan Cruyff is finished, and the new Palau Blaugrana and Campus Barça are still to come.

Before works are complete, Barcelona will be required to move out once again. They will open 2027/28 at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys before a planned return in January 2028. Camp Nou is capped at 62,000 for now.
