Manchester City’s ongoing situation is going to have ramifications across the Premier League for a long time to come.
In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past few days, the latest is that City have been found guilty on 114 of their 115 financial charges, and, pending appeal, City could face some serious punishment.
There has been talk if City being stripped of titles, receiving a transfer ban or even getting relegated.
Of course, if City are relegated, there are a few star players who won’t be sticking around to play in the lower leagues, and one of those players who could be looking to leave is Erling Haaland.
Interestingly, Arsenal have been linked to Haaland, and if this deal were to be done, you’d have to argue it would be perhaps the most shocking move in Arsenal’s history.

Erling Haaland would be the most shocking Arsenal signing since Sol Campbell
If there’s any team in the Premier League that knows what it means to make a shocking signing, it’s Arsenal.
The likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Mesut Ozil have been shock additions in more recent times, but undoubtedly the most shocking Arsenal signing of all-time was Sol Campbell.

Campbell signed for Arsenal from out of nowhere as Tottenham’s captain left on a free transfer, and the shockwaves of that deal are arguably still being felt today.
Haaland would be perhaps one of the only signings that could rival this deal – Manchester City and Arsenal may not be geographical rivals, but they have been tense enemies in recent years, and, as good as Campbell was, Haaland is a different level of star.
If you were to see Haaland rock up at the Emirates in the wake of a City relegation, it would perhaps be the biggest transfer shocker ever, never mind in the history of Arsenal.
There are rumours that Haaland could join Arsenal, so this is one to keep a close eye on.
