Furious ex-Liverpool star demands showdown meeting over Man City title accusation

Djibril Cisse has responded to Manchester United fans and Wayne Rooney after their infamous moment when some QPR players celebrated their loss to Manchester City, who lifted the title in dramatic fashion

The history of the Premier League is in question and being rewritten in the minds of many after Manchester City were found guilty of almost all 115 charges following years of investigation.

‌

Since 2012, City has won eight Premier League titles, but the club has been found to have violated several league financial regulations during that time. Liverpool finished in second place behind City three times during that period, with Jurgen Klopp previously stating that he would welcome an open-top bus parade if they were to be handed any Premier League titles.

‌

In City's first Premier League title-winning season, they defeated QPR after a last-gasp goal from Sergio Aguero to steal the trophy from Manchester United. Former Liverpool man Djibril Cisse scored in the game for QPR, who faced relegation had other results not gone their way. While QPR were able to stay up, City stole the win from them, with both teams happy on the day, as Cisse and other QPR players even celebrated with City.

This left Wayne Rooney furious, with referee Mike Dean recalling the bizarre nature of the day.

Speaking on The Overlap a year ago, Dean said, "What was strange about it, and we all alluded to what was going on near the end of the game, once QPR found out they were safe...

"I spoke to Clint Hill about this before, once they knew they were safe, the game restarted, Jamie Mackie's on the pitch celebrating while the game is still going on, because they know they're safe.

Aguero scored a last-gasp winner to secure Man City the title, as results elsewhere meant QPR would be safe from relegation

"They make it 2-2, and they just kick it back and give it to them. I said, 'What's going on here? Why are they giving the ball back straight away?' We actually said on the earpiece, 'Why are they giving the ball back straight away here?'"

In 2022, Rooney said, "Djibril Cisse celebrating after the game with the City players, but yeah listen it's a historic moment in the Premier League so I'm sure that, if you are not involved as a Manchester United player, that's probably one of the greatest moments in the league."

Cisse, meanwhile, responded to a clip of him celebrating Man City winning the game with a last-gasp goal from Aguero, while his QPR team threw away winning the game and taking the title from them. He rubbished any talk of a conspiracy, while pointing the finger at United for throwing away the title.

He said, "I'm not gonna let you people talk s*** like that. Let's have a proper meeting and talk about it. Cause there is now way I gonna accept your b------- anymore. So let's do it."

Cisse then followed this up with a question to Rooney and Man United fans, "Is it our fault if they have lost 5 games in the league and waited the last game to win the league???"

The former Liverpool fan explained why he was celebrating on the field with City, stating, "I'm not going to take this accusation any longer. I was celebrating with Samir Nasri. I didn't celebrate with Mario Balotelli, Sergio Aguero or anybody else. I celebrated with my brother, Samir, who had been a friend of mine for 15 years.

"I was happy for my friend and also that we managed to stay up. I don't care about Man City. My friend finally won the Premier League after many years in England, and I was happy for him and also for me. That's all."
