Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay addresses the media at a press conference
“How Long Should He Have Waited?”: Rams VP Fires Back at Reporter After Sean McVay’s Abrupt Postgame Exit 1
Sean McVay wasn’t having any of the media shenanigans after the Los Angeles Rams suffered a heartbreaking 30-26 loss to the Denver Broncos on “Sunday Night Football” at Empower Field.

While the Rams’ loss of a 16-point lead to the Broncos drew much attention, McVay’s conduct in the postgame presser did, too. The Rams coach spent around 90 seconds at the podium. He answered a couple of questions before leaving. “It’s tough, you know what, but this is sports,” McVay said. “You sign up for all of it. Love our group, just came up short. Give the Broncos credit, they found a way to get it done. We’ll look at ourselves and figure out how we can improve.”
The short presser was particularly unusual for McVay. He typically provides an extensive breakdown after games.
Rams VP Challenges Reporter Over Sean McVay’s Exit
Media members covering the Rams felt that the coach began his press conference before many reporters made their way down from the press box. That prompted Nate Atkins of The Athletic to call attention to the situation on X. “Sean McVay ducked out of his press conference before Rams media could get into it, only 10 minutes after the final whistle. Not sure I have ever seen that in this league before,” Atkins wrote.

However, Rams Vice President of Communications Artis Twyman wasn’t having any of it. He fired back, saying that reporters had been given instructions to leave the press box with five minutes remaining if they intended to attend the postgame news conference.
“Again, Nathan, I will not let you get on here and not represent the truth. In the press box, they announce that media that want to attend the postgame news conference, leave at the five-minute mark. You chose to stay until the end of the game, which made you late,” Twyman wrote.

Twyman doubled down, saying McVay was already waiting when the reporters arrived.
“Coach was already in there waiting on you, and then he left as you were arriving. Please, take some responsibility in the matter. How long should he have waited for you, sir?” Twyman wrote.

The whole drama happened shortly after a painful night for the Rams. Matthew Stafford-led Rams produced 482 total yards and controlled much of the first half before their offense went quiet in the third quarter. The Rams recovered some momentum in the fourth, but Stafford’s late pick-six proved costly.
