Harrison Armstrong is enjoying his breakout season for Everton.

Everton have had high hopes for Harrison Armstrong for quite some time, and his loan spells in the Championship have certainly accelerated his development.

Armstrong excelled at Preston North End last year, so much so that David Moyes recalled him in the January transfer window.

The 19-year-old has established himself as a regular starter this term, and he’s been one of Everton’s standout performers.

That said, former Toffees manager Sean Dyche has just been speaking about Armstrong on The Overlap, and he’s given his verdict on the England youth international.

Sean Dyche says Harrison Armstrong can become a ‘top player’

Dyche worked with Armstrong during his Everton tenure and handed him his first-team debut against Tottenham Hotspur in August 2024.

The 55-year-old believes he’s got every chance of becoming a ‘top player’ one day.

“He’s a good player,” Dyche explained. I gave him his debut. Harrison, good player. He’s really good. I think he’s got a really strong chance of becoming a real top player.

“It’s still early yet, but I can see why other clubs were sniffing. And I can see why, you know, the cheeky one, but maybe because of PSR, because of the history of Everton, homegrown talent.

“They might have thought, you know, it’s a bundle of money for the PSR and all that sort of stuff. I didn’t think they were going to get him, by the way, Forest being the club who would chase him, but he’s got every chance. I’m pleased he stayed. I think he’s got every chance of being a top player.”

Armstrong has shown real quality on the ball, particularly when driving forward through the middle of the park.

Armstrong has also displayed another side to his game which is quite unusual for young players. The teenager has an unbelievable engine, as he’s covered the most distance of any Everton player this season.

In fact, the 2007-born has covered the most ground across the entire Premier League, clocking up 60.4km in total, which equates to 37.5 miles.

Nottingham Forest were working towards a £40m deal to sign Armstrong in the summer – now he’s probably worth in excess of £60m, and that price tag will only increase as he continues to develop.
