Tim Iroegbunam could miss Everton reunion after Hull injury setback

Former Everton midfielder Tim Iroegbunam could miss an early return to the Hill Dickinson after suffering an injury setback with Hull City.

The 23-year-old left Everton during the summer after two seasons with the club, but an ongoing groin problem has placed his availability for Hull’s meeting with David Moyes’ side in doubt.

Iroegbunam a major doubt for Everton game

According to Hull Live, Iroegbunam aggravated the problem during Hull’s recent trip to Newcastle United and could now be sidelined for much of October.

The midfielder came off the bench at half-time at St James’ Park and had been pushing for his first Hull start before the latest setback.

It would be unfortunate timing for a player who left Everton on perfectly good terms.

Iroegbunam joined from Aston Villa in 2024 and had some useful spells in the side, particularly when injuries left Everton short of midfield options. His own fitness problems interrupted his progress, while increased competition eventually made regular football difficult to find.

There was never much drama attached to him, though. Iroegbunam got on with the job when selected and moved on in the summer when it became clear his opportunities were likely to be limited.

A quick return to the Hill Dickinson would therefore have been an interesting subplot when Everton resume Premier League action. Hull Live describes him as a major doubt rather than ruling him out completely, so there remains a chance he could recover in time.

If not, the reunion will have to wait. For Everton supporters, Iroegbunam should be remembered as a decent young player who contributed when required and left the club in straightforward circumstances.
