**The charges and soon-to-be-revealed charges against Manchester City are set to cause chaos in football, but could it be the turning point many fans crave?**
This season our beloved West Ham are out of the top flight, not in the Premier League spotlight and no longer rubbing shoulders with the very top the game has to offer.
Yet, you ask most Hammers fans if they would swap the Championship for the Premier League this season – and most would say ‘absolutely not!’
But why is that? Why is that that we are enjoying the 2nd tier much more than the glitz of the Premier League?
Ok, yes a factor is definitely that we are winning more and that undoubtedly helps. But lets be honest, it is much more than that. It is the football. The product itself.
The Premier League has become such a forensic experience, with a constant stop-start, desperate to find any reason to suck the joy out of the game, that it is simply no longer working for the fans.
This Manchester City situation is set to unleash hell, but it could also re-unleash the prospect of the football cartel to get their wish and leave to form their very own Super League.
It was something most recoiled in horror when it was first tabled – but since then I think that most wish they had gone. Could this now be the time we see it resurface? Well, this is the best opportunity to sell it to football that it is needed. And I don’t think many will stand in their way.
Let’s hope that now Pandoras box has been opened, there is an opportunity amongst the chaos to see football return to where it needs to be. A VAR-less & no water-break experience that fans can relate.
And the Cartel can that that forensic nonsense with them.
