Rob Parker Calls Out Deshaun Watson Doubters

Deshaun Watson is easily one of the most surprising stories of the early NFL season. He has led the Cleveland Browns to two straight comeback victories, including his latest fourth-quarter touchdown pass in a 21-18 win against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
Watson’s path to this point has been well-documented. So it is understandable why some fans might have mixed feelings about what is happening, or simply may not believe their eyes.
FOX Sports Radio host Rob Parker is calling out those Watson doubters and praising the QB for resurrecting his career.
“You were wrong when it comes to Deshaun Watson, because he’s righted the ship. He is writing one of the great comeback stories in the history of the National Football League,” Parker said.

In almost any other case, this would be among the greatest comeback stories in league history, even though it has been exceptionally brief so far. Any player who overcame two Achilles injuries and almost two years on the sidelines to play the way that Watson has, particularly late in games, would be deservedly praised.
But there is so much more to Watson than that. His past includes multiple sexual assault allegations, one of the most debilitating contracts of all time, and a contentious relationship with Browns fans that was still front and center heading into Sunday’s game.
It is hard to tell if Parker is being completely serious in his monologue, or if he is actually mocking those who are now fawning over Watson after just two good games. He also takes his shots at Shedeur Sanders supporters who believed that their favored QB would have been the better choice but have so far been proven wrong.
The more games Watson wins, the more fans are going to get on his side, no matter how they might feel about him personally. That is just the way of life in the NFL, and sports in general. Fans can overlook an awful lot if their team is heading toward a championship.
The Browns are still a long, long way from that, but they are also closer than they have been in the past few years, so now it is up to Watson to keep it going, continuing the process on Thursday night in a first-place showdown against the rival Pittsburgh Steelers.
