**NASHVILLE** – A trip to the Big Apple hardly proved to be fruitful for the Tennessee Titans.
The Titans let another winnable game slip away on Sunday, and because of it the team is 0-3 as I bang out this Tuesday mailbag.
Not surprisingly, I got a few emails after this one.
Let's dive into the latest batch and see what everyone is thinking.

**Scott Caldwell from Dresden, Tennessee**
**Question**: Jim , Jim , Jim ,....appreciate all that you do , but....damn! Same old Titans!!! Poor offensive play calling. What happened to the special teams that was so good last year and very bad this year? A game won by multiple field goals ? That's usually the Titans play book! The Titans bread and butter has always, through out the years, been a super star running back paving the way. I really wanted the Titans to draft Love as first round pick, but when that didn't pan out, Scattaboo was my second choice. He is a beast and more productive then Carnell Tate has been. I really have no complaints about Cam Ward as I see him getting better and better. Its the play calling and dropped passes that is an issue. This is Browns and Buckeye country where I live, and the saddest thing is that when I mention I am a Tennessee Titans fan, people get a glazed, confused look on their faces. They don't even know the Titans are a real NFL team! They act as though they have never heard of them!
Anyway, still a Titans fan, despite another dismal loss to a team that we could have ,and should have beat!
**Jim**: Hey Scott, from Dresden, home of the Dresden Lions and late Tennessee Governor Ned Ray McWherter. My roommates in college my freshmen year were from Dresden. I had no idea that was Browns and Buckeye country. ... OK, now back to Titans football. You're right on, from what was an inept offense for most the game on Sunday, to a special teams unit that hasn't played up to standard. I have confidence John Fassel will get special teams fixed. We'll see where things going on offense, but I need to see it to believe it, and it's been hard to watch, I admit. As for Love, I think the Titans were going to pick him at 4, but he went at 3 . I like Skattebo myself, but I don't think his presence would be changing things here. And, I must remind you, Skattebo was in the 2025 draft, so it wasn't a Tate vs Skattebo decision. Cam needs to be better, no doubt. He can't make that throw at the end on Sunday. But he also needs to have more of a chance earlier in games, when I agree, things were too conservative. I know the team appreciates your loyalty and support, because I know it hasn't been easy to be a Titans fan for the last 4-5 years.

**Question**: The Titans last win with Cam Ward was on December 21st, 2025 against the Kansas City Chiets. Looking at our schedule, I'm not confident there is a win in 2026. All reports I have been reading talk about Cam's progress since last year. I have not seen any progress and if anything, he has regressed. I don't care how many head coaches or offense coordinators he has had. The Cam Ward experiment is done.
I believe it is time for something new, whether is be Mitchell Trubisky or some other quarterback off the trash heap. They could not do any worse at this point. We have no run game, pass game or even a threat of one. There is a term for doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. The Titans are the definition of insanity. Thanks for letting me vent...
**Jim:** Now that's some doom and gloom, Steven. Hey, I get it. It's been a brutal stretch, and the team had no business losing that game on Sunday against Jameis and the Giants. I don't see the Titans benching Cam, at least not at this point in the season. The team needs to find out what it has in him. I still see some winnable games on the schedule, but I admit, I thought the Titans would beat the Giants …

**Question**: Jim, my question is this: Is anyone on the team at any level concerned with the growing apathy among the fans? It's not frustration. It's a growing feeling that the Titans don't care so why should they? We are PSL holders. My son told me after yesterday he won't attend anymore games. It's not just the losing. He's tired of being in a stadium overrun with fans from other teams every week. Has anyone in management noticed, or are they just happy to sell the tickets? They're all talking about the X's and O's and that is fine. But is anyone minding the P.R.? It just feels out here like no one is concerned with Titan fandom. Thoughts?
**Jim**: Hey Joe. I can't speak for everyone, so I'm speaking for myself here. And, let me say this up front: What's happened in recent years isn't for a lack of "caring" from players, coaches, or the people who run the team. But on the subject of growing apathy, I agree it should be a concern. I see the empty seats at current Nissan Stadium, and I see the opposing teams' fans in a lot of seats that are occupied (seats sold to them by a lot of Titans season ticket members). As an organization, I know we've tried to pump up the fan base with all the new stadium talk, and new uniforms. But ultimately, you have to win some football games to keep fans excited, and interested, and this franchise has lost 49 of its last 61 games dating back to November of 2022, which is, well, bad. I'm appreciative of the fans still caring enough to write in here, and I hear from a lot of fans in my mentions on social media. I don't listen to sports talk in Nashville – I regularly listen to Yacht Rock on SIRIUSXM in my car! – but it's my understanding fans have been sounding off on the local airwaves. I think a lot of folks still care, because I see them, and I hear them. But there's no question the life has been sucked out of a portion of the fan base with all the losing in recent years, and the team needs to start winning to bring it back to life.

**Question**: Hi Jim. When is this madness going to end? Disgusted is the word I choose to describe Cam Ward sealing the victory for the Giants and barely taking any accountability for being the sole reason the Titans lost the game. It's bad enough not having any first downs in the first half, but to mount a comeback and literally throw it away with a boneheaded play…unacceptable. I've been in support of Ward since last season, but Sunday changed that. I understand Cam is in a new system with new coaches, but this is his second season and he's not shown improvement. What was he thinking when he threw that pick? Clearly he wasn't thinking. I'm ready for Mitchell Trubisky. Can Cam prove me wrong? We can only hope, but I don't see it. Sunday the Titans play the Ravens. Cam doesn't stand a chance. I am beyond disappointed in Cam.
**Jim**: It was a bad ball, and a bad decision, Suzi. Cam has to be better, but a lot of other things have to be better on offense to make it happen. Cam deserves some of the blame, and perhaps a good part of it. He's the QB, and that comes with the territory. But blaming everything on him is letting everyone else off the hook, and that's just too easy of a pass for an offense that had 54 yards of offense and five three-and-outs in the first half on Sunday (the fewest yards by a Titans offense in the first half since a game in 2010). And, by the way, Saleh said after the game he hasn't considered benching Cam.

**Question**: Hi Jim: after the game, I watched commentator after commentator on You tube videos and otherwise ripping Cam Ward. Saying he is a bust and not an NFL QB. Really vicious ugly stuff. Sure, he would want that last pass back. Yes, he should have run or thrown it differently. And the first half was ugly. Ok, fine. But the second half was decidedly better and he did drive them one pass away from winning the game. And did you see Drake Maye on Sunday? Runner up for MVP last year. He does not look like an NFL QB. At all. And Justin Herbert. He looked awful. And lest I remind you that Sam Darnold was on the trash heap along with Geno Smith for years before figuring it out. I could go on. But you get my point. Cam has improving to do, we all do, but he certainly did not put in the worst performance of the week, and this is not life and death, and he is really working hard and improving. And I am old enough to remember how long it took Steve McNair to put it all together. And since I said I could go on I guess I will. Peyton Manning had the worst rookie season maybe of all time. I know Cam is not a rookie. And Bryce Young is only now looking at times like an NFL QB. I The position is tough and Cam Ward will succeed. He has the drive, the mentality, and the talent. Mark my words.
**Jim**: Hey Andrew. I didn't get many (positive) emails like this in here this week. A lot of what you are saying is true, from the other poor performances across the league to your history lesson on other QBs. I've said in here many times in the past I remember folks booing McNair, and wanting him benched, in 1999 – his fifth NFL season. Cam is still developing, and he's learning from his mistakes. He made a bad one Sunday. I can guarantee you he's going to keep working to get better, but I can't guarantee you he's going to turn into a superstar – I need more time to know for sure one way or the other. But he's definitely under a lot of pressure to get better, and quick, because I get the sense a lot of fans are running out of patience after 20 starts. And, in some ways, he's taking on frustrations from fans that date back before he got here.

**Question:** U said on my last post Mr. Jim....let's count'em, when I said stack up the losses and 1st round pick, here we come!!!!......again 😒. Just awful.....Giants really didn't have to try much...just get n field goal range and let it rip. Isn't that something. Got beat by FG's. Then we have ravens, Texans then Colts. Henry is gonna light us up for real! Im predicting over 150 yards rushing, 2 rushing TD's and a passing TD. Titan up!
**Jim**: I agree that was a terrible loss on Sunday, Chuy. And I agree this Sunday is going to be tougher.

**Question**: Jim, Karch checking in again from down here off I-35. I was sitting in the cold tub earlier watching cutups from the Giants game on my tablet, letting the ice do its work on the legs, and one sequence in particular jumped out at me. On that 1st-and Goal inside the red zone, you've got green grass right in front of you. When the defense flows out, you tuck the ball, lower the shoulder, and walk into the front pylon for six points. Forcing a tight-window throw into layered traffic when the defense gives you a wide-open runway on first down is the kind of stuff that drives coordinators crazy. Sometimes the hero ball has to take a backseat to just taking the easy real estate the front seven leaves behind.
Situational awareness takes time, but throwing a game ending pick because you'd rather squeeze an off-platform heater into a crowded end zone than take a seven-yard jog is a hard way to earn a living on Sundays. Just some thoughts from 38-degree water.
**Jim**: I hear ya, Karch, but I don't think Cam would have scored if he'd run it. I think he could have made it to the 4 or 5, but that would have been OK. There still would have been 15 seconds left with a timeout, and maybe three plays to score. Cam should have just thrown it away. Hope you have on toe caps!

**Question**: I have to wonder if there's a double agent somewhere on the Titans staff that is selling the game plan to our opponents. At least the first half game plans. I don't think it's possible to be that bad on offense. Do you think they are regretting not addressing the offensive line in any meaningful way this last season? Can that be considered criminal negligence or is it a sign they have decided Cam isn't the guy? I really don't understand drafting someone number 1 and not putting everything toward making that person successful. As a Titans fan for over 30 years, I will not spend a dime of my hard earned money on tickets or gear.
**Jim:** Hey Eric. The offensive line has not been a real problem -- Cam wasn't sacked on Sunday, and he's only been sacked five times in three games.

**Question**: Averaging less than 13 pts per game through 3 games is just ridiculous and terribly boring to watch. We got a QB with the #1 pick a couple years ago, we've invested heavily in the o-line, and we have a handful of capable receivers and tight ends on the roster. There's just no excuse for such consistently poor offense when the defense has given them so many opportunities to win games. The Titans would have won 11 more games the past 3 years if the offense consistently scored just 21 points per game.
**Jim**: Hard to argue with this, Chris. That was one of the worst first half performances I've ever seen from a Titans offense.

**Question**: Jim, frustrated isn't even close to being where I am at. A multi- million dollar offense and they scrounge 54 first half yards! Then the first drive of the 3rd qtr the gain 64yds. O'by the way they get inside the seven yard line and throw the ball 3 outta 4 downs and Cam misses a wide open receiver. Cam has not looked good at all, there hasn't been any improvement week to week as a whole offensively. This offensive scheme is not working. In the 2-3 years I've corresponded with you, I've never went on a rant but to go all in on Cam and Tate and them being underutilized is upsetting. Let's see how this Baltimore trip goes.. frustrating to say but… TITAN UP!

**Question**: Hello Jim hard to say if I have a question or comment Titans need everything imaginable to turn this around. Not sure what the answer is just a humiliating loss. I'm not sure if Brian Daboll is answer to help Cam or the offense in general.. The fans deserve better than what is being presented each week SMH I try to have optimism but this is just not a good team 😕

**Question**: Hi Jim. Hope you are doing well. Just have a quick question. When is enough enough? Time to realize that Cam Ward is not a franchise QB. When do we put Trubisky in?
**Jim:** All I can tell you is Saleh said not after Week 3 of 2026.

**Question**: Is it just me that thinks Ward misses too many easy throws? And why does the coach keep him in when he has proven he can't handle pressure situations. It wouldn't hurt to give Trubisky a shot in these situations. He more poised and more accurate. The Titans seem to believe that just because he's a #1pick. That's he's the answer to the teams prayer. He's proven over and over that he cant handle the position. Just my take. But somethings gotta change.
**Jim**: I agree he misses too many throws, Dan. Has to be better, we agree. Thanks for taking the time.

**Question**: Well this is probably the worst coached team in the NFL. Awful play calling in the first half. If we don't have faith in Ward that we have to call a first half like that then bench him. He played a good second half till we needed him to play smart. No reason to throw that pass at the end. I don't think he could have scored but he could have gotten out of bounds. He needs to stop trying to be a hero and just be a good QB. We have turned into a joke. This organization has wasted having the best DT in the league. We have drafted bad, signed overrated free agents, let good talent leave. I will say the OL did play better but the team as a whole did not. What improvements do you think needs to happen?
**Jim**: The offense needs to be better … Special teams needs to be better … The defense has played well enough for the team to be 2-1, but is also part of the reason it is 0-3. But the biggest thing that needs to improve is the offense, which of course includes the quarterback. Personally, I'd like to see some more aggressiveness early in games.

**Question**: With the disappointing loss to the New York Giants behind us, I admit I was angry and downright furious, but then a warm feeling came over me like a blanket. I was reminded that in 2008 the Detroit Lions were winless and in 2017 the Cleveland Browns went through the same thing, but you know who was standing through it all with our wins and our losses, through rain and shine, ice and snow? The old girl, Nissan Stadium. I acknowledge that Nissan Stadium is just a building, but it is the spirit of the matter; if the old girl can still stand tall even after all these years, then we as dedicated fans should do the same through thick and thin and stand tall with the Titans.
**Jim**: I admit I wasn't expecting this one in here, Will. Thanks for changing the subject, at least. Six more games in that stadium …

**Question**: Hey Jim. Another Sunday, another loss. I'm sure that Cam can play better since he has demonstrated it in flashes, but he lacks consistency as well as not seeing the receivers quickly enough. His pre-snap vs post-snap reads have to improve. However, I believe that everybody is aware of that. There were a number of times in the first half Sunday where I seriously hoped that they would bring in Trubisky. Rather than beat a dead horse, I'd like to address another issue that I believe is hindering our offense…Brian Daboll's playcalling. It seems that he is using an older playbook and making relatively conservative calls. This team is not good enough to line up and just run plays based on the idea that our line and our receivers will beat theirs in a vanilla offensive strategy. This offense really needs to get a lot more creative. In the three losses, I've seen very few called rollouts (not scrambles!), screens, quick slants, shallow crosses, tight ends blocking and then releasing, etc. These types of plays allow Cam to get the ball out a lot quicker. With our O line still not where it needs to be, we don't need slow developing plays that force Cam to hold the ball. Also, why aren't we allowing Cam to run more? I understand that he wants to improve as a pocket passer, and that we don't want him to get hurt; however, he can add another dimension to our offense. Daboll needs to open up the playbook and let this team attack more, not just run plays! Lastly, why does it appear that none of our high-priced receivers can get any separation? It appears that every time Cam throws the ball to a wide receiver, it is a contested reception. Watch other NFL games and note what percentage of receivers are relatively open when they get the ball. Thanks Jim for allowing all of the Titans fans to sound off as I'm sure that it must get old to get mostly gripes and complaints. You have a lot of patience!
**Jim**: Hey Gregg. Heck, when the team has lost as much as it has in recent years, I understand a lot of gripes and complaints. And, I know no one is safe when it comes to criticism, whether it's the HC, QB, the play-caller, or the guy who does the mailbag. If the team wants to change the subject, it needs to start winning more games.

I do want to be positive, though, and so I wanted to say it was great to see our favorite Buckeye Carnell Tate get involved in the game with some more targets. Hopefully he can be a bigger factor moving forward.
Question: do you feel his development is going as planned? What do you see from your view of his routes and blocking?
**Jim**: Well, the mailbag it looks like one of my report cards from Father Ryan High School - a lot of misery. … It was good to see Carnell involved. Now the offense needs to get him, and a lot of guys, more involved earlier in games. But I like what I've seen from Carnell, feel like he's taking advantage of his opportunities.

F�jate que hoy como hace 48 a�os me sente a ver el juego antes lo hac�a con mi padre ahora lo hago con mis hijos, emocionados, ilusionados para ver a nuestros Titans y que nos regalen una victoria ahhhhh pero no, al contrario nos regalan una derrota como hace ya tres a�os es una constante acompa�adas de malas decisiones del staff de coacheo. Hoy contra los Giants la defensa del coach Saleh una vez mas no pudo parar el juego terrestre del equipo contrario sus contrataciones "estelares" como Johnson JR, Flott y otros mas como Oladejo, Faulk y as� podr�a mencionar muchos muchos mas que no estan rindiendo nada, parece y as� es, el unico que juega siempre a su nivel es Big Jeff que sino hacemos algo creo yo esta sera su ultima temporada como Titan. Insisto la l�nea ofensiva mejoro en proteccion de pase pero no abre huecos para los corredores nos hace falta un RB que castigue un RB m�s pesado, lo teniamos y lo dejaron ir al King que veanlo como esta jugando. El plan de juego ofensivo de hoy me parecio terrible pesimo no le dan juego a Gunnar Helm ni a Ayomanor, Ridley que hace en el equipo? Ya se cobrando nada mas, porque no juega en lo absoluto. Quiero saber y no se si tu Jim me puedas contestar esta pregunta. Porque llegan jugadores de mucho nombre a los TITANS y no rinden se van a otro equipo y se vuelven de nuevo estrellas o parte importante del equipo que los recibe? Ejemplos hay muchos Ernest IV, Hopkins, Moss, Sneed, Julio Jones, y as� puedo seguir la lista, sera que solo toman a los TITANS como trampol�n para brincar a otro equipo? La verdad estoy muy molesto con este equipo pens� que ya no ver�amos nada peor que lo que vimos en la era Callaghan pero oh sorpresa con este staff de coacheo de Saleh, Daboll y Bradley (que es DC de caricatura) hemos visto cosas inimaginables como mandar a patear un field goal de 63 yardas que si lo fallas ( que as� fue, le ibas a dejar en una excelente posici�n de campo al rival) el resultado si fue un field goal de campo exitoso pero para el equipo rival, esa decision tomala cuando tu defensa esta parando en 3 y fuera al rival cosa que no era asi. Y como ese error muchos muchos mas. Yo lo unico que pido a la due�a Amy y al actual staff como un aficionado leal en estos 48 a�os es que tengan la verg�enza, la inteligencia de darnos un equipo digno, competitivo, ganador y sino pueden que renuncien o que vendan al equipo para que lo tome tanto a nivel de gerencial como a nivel deportivo personas que realmente amen al equipo a su tradicion y honren la memoria de Bud Adams. Como aficionados exigimos al equipo lo mismo que nosotros brindamos. Basta ya de tantas derrotas tengan verg�enza deportiva
**Jim**: Hola, Héctor. Parece que estás perdiendo la paciencia, y lo entiendo. Ha sido una racha mala y frustrante. No sé qué decirte sobre por qué algunos jugadores no han rendido al máximo, pero algunos de los que mencionaste, no todos, estaban en la recta final de sus carreras, y eso lo explica en parte. Te aseguro que todos aquí queremos ganar, pero es evidente que se han tomado algunas malas decisiones que han desviado a esta franquicia de su camino. Con suerte, las cosas mejorarán con el tiempo.

**Question**: Howdy Jim, Well here we are the same old same old. Dropped balls, fumbles and most of the interception. The Titans defense played well enough to win, but the offense ( mainly the quarterback played lousy). The sad part is I have followed Cam Ward since he played at Incarnate Word. I really thought he would be the Titans answer to having winning seasons. I am sadly disappointed he continues to make dumb mistakes. I am seeing the same mistakes every week. He continues to miss receivers , throw passes that should not be thrown. He did better at staying in the pocket but still ran backwards and throw off the wrong foot. He actually reminded me of some of the things Levis would do. I haven't seen any praises coming Jack Slater for holding up his end after many people slammed him during the preseason. The only really good play I saw was from the defensive line. The backfield did better this game. I just watched the Ravens against Dallas. The Titans play both this year OH NO! At least the Texans are 0 and 3 too. Change is on the horizon.
**Jim**: Hard to argue with a lot of this, Tommy. Bad news for Jackson Slater – he suffered what Saleh called a significant foot injury on Sunday's game, after playing well.

**Question**: Jim. Wow the Titans can't get anything going in the right direction. Do they need a Motivation Coach because I can do just that for a lot less Money.
**Jim**: Hey Jerry. This team doesn't need any Knute Rockne speeches. It needs to throw and catch the football better.

**Question**: You answered my question in week one after I lamented that we have not fixed our Offensive line problems. The good news is that the O-Line has done well the last 2 games. It has given us a chance to honestly evaluate Cam as he has been given time to throw. Unfortunately, he is inaccurate and his decision making is questionable. On our first goal line drive in the second half he threw a pass that should have been intercepted on 2nd down. On 3rd down he missed a wide open receiver in the end zone with an errant throw. And of course his last interception. So here is my question… do you see a difference in Cam and Will Levis? Will had similar issues.
**Jim**: Cam has had more success than Will, and up until there were 17 seconds remaining Sunday, he'd made better decisions with the football. I will say I always liked Will more than a lot of folks.

**Question**: Hi Jim, I hope all is going well! An 0-3 that should be 2-1… I can say that I liked the decision to go get the TD in 4th and goal. My question is, if Ridley and Spears are invisible in game days, why not roll with X and Singleton? At this point I rather develop hungry young players than keep wasting time with two that can't do anything for the team. Titan Up, and buckle up for the biggest upset of week 4!
**Jim**: I also liked the decision to go for the TD there … It's easy to second-guess after the fact, but kicking to make it 12-3 after what we'd seen from the offense to that point wouldn't have gone over well. Young team , I have seen this with the Montreal Canadians , but they stuck to a plan and drafted well , now they have a young good exiting team. Ready to contend. Seems like in the NFL, the fans and owners are not that patient. That said, in your opinion will the titans stick with Ward or will there be a change at QB ? I don't really see why they would change -- the Titans are not going to win the Super Bowl this year. LOL.

**Question**: Jim, how long are we gonna have to be exposed to this team. Their offense is ridiculous. Please help me find some light at the end of the tunnel. There is nothing to be excited about at all! I said on draft day that the Tate pick was a mistake....and not because he isn't a good player, but over the years Tenn is where WR's go to die. It was a waste of a pick with the team and offense being this bad. I would like to see the stats of WR picked in the top 5. How many have one catch in their first 3 games? Talk me off the ledge here Jim. It is beyond painful with no signs of progress that we can at least be hopeful for the future.....Should have traded the #1 pick a couple of years ago (like I also said) and draft Dart later in the 1st round (also like I said).
