Sham. That is the word being used by the Premier League in their statement regarding Manchester City's charges.
The Premier League used the word sham multiple times in their statement, declaring that City have been found guilty of all financial charges investigated for seasons ranging from 2009/10 to 2017/18. This includes 'sham contracts' and over £900m artificial revenue.
City's appeal deadline
Manchester City now have until Friday 2nd October 2026 to appeal this investigation of SERIOUS breaches.
City will wait to see if they lose the appeal, if submitted, and what major punishment they could receive, which could range from point deductions to relegation and much more.

Nottingham Forest's relevance?
In January 2024, Nottingham Forest were charged for breaching the Premier League's Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
The charges were linked to the fact Forest breached financial limits that permitted a maximum loss of £61 million.
The club were then later deducted four points in March 2024. This positioned the Tricky Trees in the relegation zone before they eventually stayed up by finishing 17th, whilst Luton Town, Burnley and Sheffield United were relegated in the same season.

The FA fine and FA Cup exit
The Tricky Trees were also fined £750k in October 2024 by the FA (Football Association) regarding a social media post on Twitter (now known as X) that claimed they told PGMOL that the VAR in April 2024 in a match against Everton FC was a Luton Town fan.
Nottingham Forest also lost to Manchester City twice in the 2024/2025 season, missing out on Champions League football as well as losing their FA Cup semi-final in April 2025.
