As Liverpool continue their extended wait for Premier League football to resume, several of their players have been representing their countries. Among them are Jeremy Jacquet and Bradley Barcola, who have both contributed to France's perfect start in the Nations League, though not without controversy.

The four-match UEFA international break has reached its midpoint, and Andoni Iraola has already witnessed both Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo leave their respective national team camps early. While Isak's injury appears relatively minor, Gakpo may face a slightly longer spell on the sidelines.

The January transfer window remains some distance away, yet speculation surrounding potential signings continues. Despite substantial summer expenditure, the search for emerging talent never ceases, with a fresh name now entering the conversation.

We have the latest on the consequences of this week's international fixtures, as well as a transfer development. Here are our most recent headlines from Anfield.

Uruguayan winger Nicolas Scotti has emerged as the latest young prospect reportedly attracting Liverpool's attention, according to South American reports. They could, however, face competition from European giants and Brazilian clubs.

The 16-year-old is understood to have a release clause worth just under £6million. Capable of operating on either flank, he registered a goal and an assist on his debut for Uruguay's Under-18s in August.

Scotti is presently registered with Defensor Sporting, the Montevideo outfit where 2010 World Cup stars Sebastian Abreu and Maxi Pereira began their careers. He has already featured for the first team in league competition but has yet to find the net at senior level.

Liverpool winger Bradley Barcola acknowledged that he could face sanctions for remarks made regarding the non-award of a penalty during France's win over Belgium. He fell to the floor following a challenge from Nathan Ngoy, but the referee remained unmoved.

"If I talk about it, I'm probably in trouble, but I have to say what I think," Barcola said. "I felt the contact. I was inside the box and I was trying to continue the action.

"Maybe the referee saw it differently, but from where I was, it affected the play. What frustrates me most is that these decisions can change a game. You work for 90 minutes and sometimes one moment decides everything.

"I don't want to complain about referees in the Nations League or Premier League, I just want consistency. If there is contact and it affects the attacker, at least take another look. I'll probably get fined for saying this, but honestly, I thought it was a penalty."
