Bradley Barcola comment could land him in trouble as Liverpool 'eye' wonderkid transfer

There has been plenty of Liverpool interest during the international break while transfer chatter has also continued

It has been a busy week for Liverpool's players, even if there's no Premier League action for more than a week.

‌

The UEFA Nations League is well up and running, with Andoni Iraola no doubt keeping a close eye on things. While Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo are back after injury scares, with the early signs pointing to Gakpo's absence being longer than that of his fellow forward, others have more action ahead of them.

‌

We have already seen summer arrivals Jeremy Jacquet and Bradley Barcola help France make a fast start with a pair of victories. However, winger Barcola hit the headlines for other reasons after the game.

‌

We've also got a transfer update, with Liverpool seemingly looking to the future. Here are our latest lines from around Anfield.

Barcola braced for a telling-off

Liverpool winger Bradley Barcola risks ending up in hot water for remarks made about the refusal to award a penalty in France's triumph over Belgium. He went to ground following a challenge from Nathan Ngoy but the official remained unmoved and has chosen to speak out despite the risk of punishment.

"If I talk about it, I'm probably in trouble, but I have to say what I think," Barcola said. "I felt the contact. I was inside the box and I was trying to continue the action.

"Maybe the referee saw it differently, but from where I was, it affected the play. What frustrates me most is that these decisions can change a game. You work for 90 minutes and sometimes one moment decides everything.

"I don't want to complain about referees in the Nations League or Premier League, I just want consistency. If there is contact and it affects the attacker, at least take another look. I'll probably get fined for saying this, but honestly, I thought it was a penalty."

Uruguayan winger Nicolas Scotti is the latest teenage talent to have caught Liverpool's eye, according to South American media. However, the Reds could face stiff competition, with Brazilian giants ready to rival some top European clubs in the race for the youngster.

The 16-year-old marked his Uruguay Under-18s debut with a goal and an assist against Uzbekistan in August. He could be available for less than his £5.9million release clause, allowing teams with less financial might than the Reds to enter the race.

Scotti has been given a taste of senior action with Defensor Sporting, the Montevideo outfit where Uruguay's 2010 World Cup stars Sebastian Abreu and Maxi Pereira began their careers. He has made a handful of substitute appearances in the league but is yet to register his maiden senior goal.
