Everton are reportedly set to face Blackburn Rovers in a behind-closed-doors friendly later this week as David Moyes makes use of the extended international break.
The Everton manager has been left without several senior players during the break, but the fixture should provide useful minutes for those who have remained at Finch Farm.
The Bobble reports that the game against Championship side Blackburn is now set for later this week.
Everton and Blackburn friendly set to go ahead
The development follows our report earlier this month that the two clubs were in talks over arranging a friendly during the three-week gap in domestic football.
Blackburn had also confirmed plans to play a behind-closed-doors fixture during the international break, with the game offering both clubs an opportunity to maintain match sharpness before competitive football resumes.
For Moyes, it should provide a useful run-out for players who haven’t had regular minutes in recent weeks. There could also be an opportunity to involve some of Everton’s younger players, although no squad details have been reported.
No date, venue or further details have yet been made public.
Everton return to Premier League action away to Hull City on October 11, leaving Moyes with time to work with his squad before the domestic programme resumes.
