The 10 Best FPL Seasons from Man City Players Which No Longer Count

Legally required to forget these: countdown 10 monster FPL seasons from Man City players that officially no longer count.

The 10 Best FPL Seasons from Man City Players Which No Longer Count

Look, I don’t care how many top 10k finishes you had, if you owned any City players, you cheated. We’re now all back to square one. Deal with it.

That being said, they have produced some wonderful FPL seasons over the years.

From Sergio Agüero and Yaya Touré to Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden and Erling Haaland, City players have regularly produced monster FPL seasons. Some of them have been so good that they remain among the highest-scoring individual campaigns in FPL history.

With Haaland looking set to smash even more records himself.

There is just one problem with those now however…they no longer count.

So let’s take a look at some of these legendary Man City FPL seasons, as there is a strong chance we might not see too many in the foreseeable future.

Here are the ten best:

1. Erling Haaland — 2022/23 — 272 points

It is difficult to start anywhere else.

Haaland’s first Premier League season was a ridiculous FPL campaign. He finished with 272 points, scoring 36 goals and providing nine assists.

The 36 goals were a Premier League record at the time and, from an FPL perspective, Haaland quickly became the player around whom entire teams were built.

There were 14 double-digit returns, including three separate 20+ point hauls. His ownership became enormous and, for large parts of the season, not owning him felt like playing with one hand tied behind your back.

The 272 points also put Haaland firmly into the conversation for the greatest individual FPL season ever.

And now, depending on how City’s historical records are ultimately treated, it could become a season that technically never existed.

2. Kevin De Bruyne — 2019/20 — 251 points

Before Haaland came along, Kevin De Bruyne was City’s FPL king.

His 2019/20 campaign produced 251 points, a phenomenal total for a midfielder. De Bruyne scored 13 goals and supplied 23 assists, combining creativity with an increasingly impressive goal threat.

The assists were particularly important. De Bruyne was involved in almost everything City created, and his ability to rack up bonus points made him one of the safest premium midfielders in the game.

The 251-point season remains one of the best FPL campaigns ever recorded by a midfielder.

3. Yaya Touré — 2013/14 — 241 points

Ahhh, what a player. One of my favourite players to watch in his prime. He simply had it all.

There was a time when Yaya Touré was simply unstoppable.

In 2013/14, the midfielder scored 20 Premier League goals and finished with 241 FPL points.

Twenty goals from a midfielder was absurd enough. What made the season even more remarkable was that Touré was doing it from midfield while also collecting assists, bonus points and clean-sheet points.

He became one of the most expensive midfielders in the game, but there were few complaints from the managers who owned him.

Touré’s season is also a reminder of how different FPL could be before the current generation of ultra-premium forwards and midfielders. A midfielder capable of scoring 20 goals was basically Fantasy gold.

4. Erling Haaland — 2025/26 — 239 points

Haaland appears again, this time for his 239-point 2025/26 campaign.

It says something about his consistency that his second-best season still comfortably clears 230 points.

By this point, Haaland was no longer a new FPL phenomenon. He was a known quantity, and managers had already learned the hard way what could happen when they left him out.

The 239 points also mean Haaland accounts for two of the four highest-scoring City player seasons on this list.

That is quite some return for a player who had only been in the Premier League for a few seasons.

5. Raheem Sterling — 2018/19 — 234 points

Sterling’s peak FPL years are sometimes forgotten now, largely because Haaland and City’s current generation have taken over the conversation.

But they really shouldn’t be.

Sterling scored 234 points in 2018/19, combining 17 goals with 15 assists.

For a midfielder, that was an enormous total.

He was particularly valuable because City could score so freely, while Sterling’s position gave him access to the midfielder’s five-point goal haul. For a player not well known for his finishing ability, the fact he was able to score so much is a testament to not just Pep’s genius, but also how much they cheated…

It was also the second consecutive season in which Sterling broke the 200-point barrier.

6. Phil Foden — 2023/24 — 230 points

Foden’s 2023/24 season was the campaign in which he properly arrived as an FPL superstar.

He finished with 230 points, scoring 19 goals and registering eight assists. Enough for the 2nd highest scorer that season behind only Cole Palmer.

What made Foden particularly interesting for Fantasy managers was his price compared with City’s other premium options. Haaland was the obvious captaincy monster, but Foden offered another route into one of the highest-scoring attacks in the league. Not least considering his clean sheet points and 5 points per goal.

His 230 points also put him ahead of a remarkable number of City’s legendary players.

For a player who had spent several seasons being rotated in and out of Pep Guardiola’s side, it represented a huge step forward.

7. Raheem Sterling — 2017/18 — 229 points

Sterling’s previous season was almost as good.

In 2017/18, he scored 18 goals and provided 11 assists, finishing on 229 FPL points.

That gives Sterling two appearances in this top ten, with his 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons sitting back-to-back in the rankings.

The interesting thing about those seasons is just how much Sterling improved his Fantasy output. He went from being a promising attacking midfielder to one of the most reliable premium options in the game.

City’s attacking numbers certainly helped, but Sterling was no passenger. He was consistently finding himself in the right positions and turning chances into points.

8. Sergio Agüero — 2014/15 — 216 points

Agüero’s name had to be on this list.

His 2014/15 season produced 216 FPL points, with 26 goals and 10 assists.

For years, Agüero was the premium striker that FPL managers dreamed of owning when he was fit. The problem, as anybody who played during his career will remember, was keeping him on the pitch.

When he was available, though, he was devastating.

The 2014/15 campaign was his highest-scoring FPL season and remains one of the standout forward performances of the era.

There is also something slightly strange about seeing Agüero this far down the list. For so long, he felt like the definitive Man City FPL asset. Yet City’s later stars have produced even bigger totals.

9. Sergio Agüero — 2011/12 — 211 points

Agüero’s first season at City deserves more attention than it usually gets.

He finished his debut Premier League campaign with 211 FPL points, scoring 23 goals.

That was enough to immediately establish him as one of the most dangerous forwards in the game.

The season also included one of the most famous moments in Premier League history, with Agüero scoring the last-minute goal against QPR that delivered the title to Man City.

From an FPL perspective, it was an outstanding debut season and one of only a handful of City campaigns to break the 210-point mark.

10. Kevin De Bruyne — 2017/18 — 209 points

The final place belongs to De Bruyne’s 2017/18 season, when he scored 209 points.

His numbers were excellent rather than spectacular by the standards of the seasons above: eight goals and 18 assists.

But that was enough to put him inside this remarkable top ten.

De Bruyne’s presence twice on this list is another reflection of just how important he was to City’s rise. He wasn’t simply a player who occasionally delivered huge FPL hauls. He was one of the most consistent sources of attacking returns in the game.
