Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has spoken for the firts time about Manchester City after the club was found guilty of almost all of the Premier League charges against it.
An independent commission found City guilty of all charges related to serious breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules over a nine-season period, and the majority of charges in relation to its failure to co-operate with the investigation. City maintains its innocence and is expected to appeal the ruling, with no sanctions having yet been passed down.
Klopp, who regularly went head-to-head with City for the Premier League title during his time at Liverpool, has now spoken out on the matter, and reiterated his admiration for his counterpart Pep Guardiola.
"Of course I've heard about that, but I haven't given it much thought," Klopp told a press conference on Wednesday ahead of Germany's Nations League game against Serbia.
"I can only wait and see. I have big respect for Pep Guardiola and City's style of football; they played fantastic football and were a top class opponent for us.
"If any sanctions are handed out, I have nothing to do with it; I'll wait and see. I'm far from preparing for a title or anything like that.
"I'm absolutely fine with what we've achieved in Liverpool. We fought hard on the pitch. I can't say more about that because I don't know the details and I'm not interested in them"
Klopp's comments come after Guardiola posted a message on social media earlier in the day in which he expressed his full support for City's owners and current squad, having left the club during the summer after 10 years in charge at the Etihad.

"I want every single @ManCity fan to know I am here; more than ever," Guardiola said. "I am, always have been, always will, be behind my club, my owner, my chairman, Ferran, the players, staff, Enzo and you, our unique supporters. Let me be clear: we will get through this together. I love you all."
Klopp has previously joked that he would join a bus parade should Liverpool receive any reallocated titles as a result of City being found guilty.
The Reds twice finished second to City under Klopp's management, having accumulated more than 90 points but still finishing a point behind Guardiola's side in the 2018/19 and 2021/22 seasons. Liverpool's sole league title under the German came in the 2019/20 campaign.
