Everton supporters have watched Thierno Barry make a good start to the new season so far, but the club will surely look to hand him some support in the next transfer window.
What happened at the end of the last transfer window was well documented.
But after missing out on Folarin Balogun, Barry has rather risen to the occasion. In total, up to this point, he has scored five goals across Everton’s seven games so far, hitting a hat-trick against Preston North End in the Carabao Cup.
He was unlucky to see his header against Ipswich Town get chalked off, after Brennan Johnson was adjudged to be offside in front of the goalkeeper.
While Barry is doing well, Everton know they can’t go the whole season relying on him – and it seems the club have an eye on a striker from Germany.
After how things unfolded on deadline day, what are you rating Everton’s summer transfer window? 🫣
Everton interested in Younes Ebnoutalib
TEAMtalk have reported that Everton are keeping tabs on Eintracht Frankfurt striker Younes Ebnoutalib.
Ebnoutalib signed for Eintracht in January 2026, but did not have the chance to hit the ground running after he suffered a knee injury.
This season though he has started really well, scoring six goals in 10 games so far.
And that goalscoring form has led to interest from several sides, including:
Everton
Tottenham Hotspur
Brighton
As a result of his good form, Ebnoutalib has also caught the eye of Germany national team head coach Jurgen Klopp, who called him into his first squad this international break. He then handed the striker his debut against the Netherlands last week.
Everton are said to have watched Ebnoutalib ‘closely’ this season, obviously knowing they need to land some support for Barry in the next window. As well as he is doing, and as encouraging as Barry’s injury record is, another body is needed.
Ebnoutalib compared to Miroslav Klose
Excitingly, Ebnoutalib has previously been likened to legendary striker Miroslav Klose by the official Bundesliga website.
Their feature said of him: “Ebnoutalib’s style of play closely resembles that of footballing legend Klose. Germany’s outright best goalscorer with 71 strikes in 137 international appearances, the former Kaiserslautern, Werder Bremen and Bayern Munich forward didn’t score his first top-flight goal until the age of 22, before going on to net 127 Bundesliga goals.
“A physical presence at 1.87m, each of Ebnoutalib’s 2025/26 Bundesliga 2 goals came inside the penalty box. The Frankfurt forward possesses superb close control, ability to find space and a natural eye for goal with his poacher-like instinct, similar to that of Klose.”
Superb close control.
Ability to find space.
Poacher-like instinct.
Klose, of course, was famed for being a real penalty box poacher, and scored so many goals from inside the area at both club and international level.
But while that comparison is exciting, with Klose being one of the game’s great strikers, him being a successful addition would greatly depend on how regularly Everton would be able to fashion good quality chances.
So far this term, the Toffees have actually done OK on that front and really ought to have scored more than the six league goals they have.
