The Four Everton Academy Players Training With The First-Team

Everton have drafted in some academy players to fill in during first-team training, with the Toffees having a number of players on international duty.

It's an interesting period for Everton with it being a three-week international break.

The Toffees don't have a ridiculous number of players on international duty, but given the size of the squad, it's left a minimal number of players remaining at Finch Farm.

With Everton set to play a friendly against Blackburn Rovers during this period, David Moyes doesn't have a whole host of senior players to choose from. As a result, Moyes will have to draft in some academy youngsters in order to fill a squad, while also needing them for first-team training.

Even some of our academy youngsters, such as Braiden Graham, Jack Patterson, and Kai Hutchison, are off representing their countries during the international break.

The Everton players who haven't jetted off on international duty were given some time off before returning to training, but they are now back at Finch Farm, with summer signing Christian Norgaard now involved as he continues his recovery from injury.

Norgaard is yet to feature for the Toffees since joining from Arsenal in the summer.

The academy players involved for Everton

One youngster who has been involved is Francis Boggan. Last year, Boggan became Everton's youngest-ever player to represent the U18s, at the age of just 14 years old.

Not long before that, Boggan was given a scholarship deal with the Toffees, two years before they are usually offered. At 15, Boggan has already represented England's U16s, and he uploaded a story on Instagram suggesting that he's been involved in senior training over the international break.

Everton also posted a video confirming that three other academy talents have been involved in senior training, showing the trio being welcomed by Jack Grealish.

Ezra Carrington was the first to be embraced by Grealish. Carrington signed for Everton during the summer transfer window after he left Manchester City earlier in the summer. Carrington has been capped at U19 level for England and was even involved in first-team training for Man City at times.

Carrington is fully fit now, of course, but has been suffering from knee injuries over the last few years.

The next player is John Dodds, a 17-year-old centre-back from Scotland. Dodds joined the club from Hearts back in 2025, signing his first professional contract with Everton in January 2026.

So far this season, Dodds has made appearances for both the U18s and U21s at Everton.

Finally, Jonathan Nsangou was also involved in senior training for the Toffees. We wrote about Nsangou just a few weeks ago after footage emerged of him scoring a fantastic brace for the U18s.

Nsangou has represented both England and Poland at youth level, and also made his Everton U21 debut at just 15 years old. The youngster can play in multiple positions in attack, and notched nine goal contributions in 20 games last season in Everton's academy.
