Before the international break, Arsenal experienced their first defeat of the season, losing 3-0 away to Brighton. They were second to every first and second ball, something that hasn’t happened much over the last 18 months. The Gunners will be back in action on October 10 after the extended international break, and Last Word on Football takes a look at the October fixtures for Mikel Arteta’s team and give our predictions.
Bruno Guimaraes Shines on International Duty
Arsenal Predictions for October
The Gunners had plenty of players on international duty in the most recent round of fixtures, with Bruno Guimaraes shining for Brazil, scoring in a 4-2 win for his country against Australia.
Away from Guimaraes, Gabriel Magalhaes played the full 90 minutes for Brazil. Martin Zubimendi came on for Spain, providing an assist for Nico Williams, as the Spanish comfortably beat Croatia.
Myles Lewis-Skelly, Bukayo Saka, and Ebere Eze all appeared for England against Czechia.

Arsenal vs Leeds
The first fixture after the international break on October 10, the Gunners face Leeds at the Emirates. Leeds have looked impressive so far, despite the heavy loss to Chelsea in the Carabao Cup. We are backing Arteta’s men to bounce back in style.
LWOF Prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Leeds.
Arsenal vs Lille
On October 13, at the Emirates Stadium, the Gooners will face Lille, who lost their opening Champions League game 3-2 against Real Betis.
Lille have talented players such as Tiago Santos and Ayase Ueda, but it’s difficult to see them troubling Arteta’s men.
LWOF Prediction: Arsenal 3-0 Lille.

Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal
The Gunners will travel to the City Ground on October 18 to face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League. Forest have endured a mixed Premier League campaign so far, with the highlight being a 2-1 win over Aston Villa.
Forest have players capable of causing the reigning champions problems, such as Morgan Gibbs-White, but the reigning champions have more than enough to collect all three points; this won’t be easy.
LWOF Prediction: Nottingham Forest 0-1 Arsenal.

Bayern vs Arsenal
For matchday three in the 2026/27 Champions League, last year’s finalists will travel to Germany to face Bayern Munich on October 21. The Gunners beat the German side 3-1 in last year’s competition. The current Bundesliga champions are unbeaten in all competitions, routing FK Bodø/Glimt in their previous game in the competition. We feel Bayern will get their revenge against the Gunners this time.
LWOF Prediction: Bayern Munich 2-0 Arsenal.
Arsenal vs Everton
After their trip to Germany, Mikel Arteta’s men return to Premier League action to face Everton at home. David Moyes’ team have started the season well and are unbeaten after their first five league games, beating Ipswich and Crystal Palace.
Despite coming back from one of the toughest trips in European football against Munich, we are backing the Gooners to have too much for the visiting Toffees.
LWOF Prediction: Arsenal 2-1 Everton.
Fleetwood Town vs Arsenal
In the final fixture in October for Arsenal, they will face Fleetwood in the Carabao Cup fourth round. Regardless of what happens in the October fixtures before, we can expect plenty of changes as Arteta’s team travels to the League 2 side.
Even with the expected wholesale changes, we are backing Arteta’s side to go through to the next round with relative ease.
LWOF Prediction: Fleetwood Town 0-3 Arsenal.
