The Premier League sack race has already raised plenty of eyebrows, with four managers attracting serious attention in the latest betting markets. Oddschecker and Sporting Life have both tracked the odds, giving a clear indication of which bosses are currently under the most pressure.

The season remains in its early stages, so that the situation can change quickly after just one result. However, poor league records, expensive squad rebuilds and difficult starts have already placed several managers in uncomfortable positions.

Which Premier League managers are in the hot seat

Roberto De Zerbi currently leads the market after Tottenham’s disappointing opening weeks. Michael Carrick follows closely at Manchester United, while Fulham boss Álvaro Arbeloa and Crystal Palace manager Pierre Sage complete the four names attracting significant sack speculation.

The numbers tell part of the story. Tottenham have struggled for goals, Manchester United have lacked consistency, Fulham have endured a difficult opening run, and Palace have faced their own concerns after changes in the dugout.

None of the four clubs has announced a decision to remove their manager, and betting odds cannot confirm that a dismissal will happen. They simply reflect how bookmakers currently price the possibility.

Still, the pressure around these jobs has grown quickly. With demanding fixtures ahead and expectations high at several clubs, another poor run could bring fresh questions for the respective boards.

1. Roberto De Zerbi – Tottenham

Tottenham‘s opening has pushed Roberto De Zerbi to the front of the sack market. Spurs have collected 2 points from 5 Premier League matches, scoring 2 and conceding 8. They lost 3-2 to Aston Villa on September 26 after Villa led 3-0. De Zerbi arrived in March and kept Tottenham up with a final-day victory over Everton.

Spurs spent more than £300m, with Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Sávio and Jan Paul van Hecke arriving. That spending raised expectations, while early results created scrutiny.

2. Michael Carrick – Manchester United

Michael Carrick sits second. United began the campaign with 5 points from 5 league matches, with 1 win, 2 draws and 2 defeats. They suffered a Carabao Cup exit against Brighton after surrendering a 2-0 lead at Old Trafford. A 1-1 draw at Fulham followed.

Manchester United gave Carrick a contract through 2028 after his strong interim spell last season. He guided the side to Champions League qualification, so current scrutiny follows a sharp contrast in early results.

3. Álvaro Arbeloa – Fulham

Álvaro Arbeloa entered the season on the market. Fulham lost their opening 3 league matches, yet Arbeloa gained ground with a 0-0 draw at Liverpool and a 3-2 Carabao Cup win at West Ham. Those results eased pressure before the 1-1 Manchester United meeting.

Fulham appointed Arbeloa on a 3-year contract in July 2026. The deal currently runs until summer 2029.

4. Pierre Sage – Crystal Palace

Pierre Sage completes the four names highlighted by the markets. Palace appointed Sage in June on a 3-year deal after Oliver Glasner’s departure. He arrived after leading Lens to second place in Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France in 2025/26.

His early Premier League period has brought pressure after defeats against Everton and Manchester City. Sage had faced frustration during Palace’s transfer window, including difficulties strengthening the defence.
