Morgan Rogers joined Chelsea in the summer for north of £100m and became the third nine-figure signing made by the Blues. But if Chelsea had their way, they could land a fourth in January.

Before Rogers, there was Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez. Romelu Lukaku was just £2.5m shy of the £100m figure, while Kai Havertz was around £90m. Rogers has eclipsed them all, costing a huge £117m.

The England star is certainly proving his worth in a Chelsea shirt, already matching a record held by the likes of Eden Hazard, Didier Drogba and Diego Costa. Now, Chelsea are eyeing another nine-figure star.

Rogers delighted for Alex Scott after England debut

It’s been a long time coming for Bournemouth star Alex Scott. Finally, on Tuesday night, Scott made his debut for England during the 2-0 win over the Czech Republic. He did so alongside Chelsea ace Rogers.

Scott has long been touted as a potential replacement for Enzo Fernandez at Chelsea. The former Bristol City star was the subject of a £64m bid from Chelsea in the summer, but Bournemouth rejected that.

Chelsea are not alone in their pursuit of Scott, with Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid are also interested in the playmaker. The Blues have retained Scott as a priority, but Bournemouth do not intend to sell in January.

Rogers will know full well that Scott is a target for Chelsea. But after Scott underlined his delight at his England debut on Instagram, Rogers was among the players to respond, telling Scott: “Proud of you”.

How much will Alex Scott cost if Bournemouth do sell?

Chelsea have been told that Scott is going nowhere mid-season, even if the midfielder has rejected the chance to extend his contract at The Vitality. But every player has his price; Chelsea have cash to spend.

The January window is always overpriced, too. The Blues will obviously have to spend north of the £64m fee they offered Bournemouth in the summer, even if it means Scott is in the final 18 months of his deal.

Alan Shearer reckons Scott will be the Premier League’s next £100m player. If Chelsea table a nine-figure fee and make the midfielder their fourth £100m+ player, Chelsea will finally replace the loss of Fernandez.
