Kavuma-McQueen came off the bench to seal victory for the Young Lions, scoring a stoppage-time winner against Korea Republic in the under-18 competition in Switzerland.

The 17-year-old looped in a lovely finish from just inside the box to give Will Antwi’s side a 2-1 success and keep up their 100 per cent record in the competition.

That followed a similarly impressive effort against Egypt earlier this week, as the attacking ace’s stock continues to grow.

Now England are one victory away from taking the title as they go up against Spain on Saturday in Nyon (5pm), who have also won all three of their matches in Group B.

Kavuma-McQueen’s performances have again caught the attention of supporters on social media, who have praised his continually impressive efforts - and ridiculous form for his country.

‘Ryan Kavuma-McQueen has now scored 27 goals across the 26 England youth games he has featured in,’ said @TalentHunter on X, formerly Twitter. ‘What a talent Chelsea have on their hands.’

‘What a player,’ added cobalpablo, while @AntonioMango4 stated: ‘Can’t be ignored.’

Kavuma-McQueen, of course, has been a breath of fresh air in Pompey’s squad, since completing a season-long loan arrival from the Premier League side in August.

The Londoner has delivered a string of exciting displays across seven appearances, played on with a finger fracture picked up after colliding with an advertising hoarding against Derby last month and earned praise for his grounded attitude when linking up with John Mousinho’s squad.

Mousinho said after that injury: 'Fair play to Ryan, we went up to London on Wednesday to get the X-ray and we made the decision there. Between Ryan and his family, there was an option to have surgery and be out for a while - or to manage it conservatively.

‘As a 17-year-old, he decided he wanted to wear the splint and put himself in the front line - and I've got a lot of time for that.

‘Ryan's in the splint for about four weeks with that proper recovery and I think he stays in it after that, even though we expect the hand to be healed. He will still stay in it for a while just to protect it.

‘This is a young lad on loan who wants to just play games and put his body on the line.’

Saturday’s UEFA Friendship Cup final will be available to watch on UEFA’s YouTube channel and UEFA.tv.
