Does Raphinha get enough credit at Barcelona?

Gill Clark Gill Clark is the site manager of Barca Blaugranes and joined in 2017. She has worked in sports media as a writer and editor for the best part of two decades and has been in love with the beautiful game for as long as she can remember.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has been chatting about Barcelona and feels that captain Raphinha doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

Raphinha has enjoyed a stellar start to the season for Barcelona, scoring 14 goals in eight games as Hansi Flick’s side have made a perfect start to the campaign.

Yet Raphinha is not among the final nominees for the 2026 Ballon d’Or award and also missed out in 2025 in a decision he has admitted he found painful and has baffled Atletico boss Diego Simeone.

Courtois says he’s a big fan of Raphinha’s and believes Barcelona are not quite the same team when the Brazilian is unavailable.

“I really like Raphinha; for me, he’s a key player for Barça. When he hasn’t been there, they’ve suffered a lot, and when he’s there, they’re playing well,” he told reporters.

“So I think Raphinha doesn’t always get the recognition he deserves, but he’s a key player for this team. He scores a lot of goals because he’s a great player.”

So today’s Barca Blaugranes Question of the Day is:
