Liverpool’s search for new widemen in the summer was well documented as the club looked to enhance Andoni Iraola’s attacking options following the departure of Mohamed Salah.
The Reds brought in Bradley Barcola in a deal worth up to £123m from Paris Saint-Germain towards the end of the window following a summer-long pursuit and also signed Victor Munoz after activating a £34.5m release clause in his contract.
However, they were left frustrated in efforts to sign a natural right-winger following Salah’s release on a free transfer.
Yan Diomande rejected Liverpool’s advances in order to eventually sign for Real Madrid, while the La Liga giants were not interested in letting Endrick leave the club.

Meanwhile, the Reds had bids rejected for both Yankuba Minteh and Ismaila Sarr during the final weeks of the transfer window, before club bosses ultimately decided to retain Cody Gakpo instead.
The Dutchman was poised to make way, had Liverpool been successful in their own transfer pursuits, with both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City in for the forward.
But with Iraola keen for his wide players to be comfortable on both flanks, the Reds felt it best not to cash in on Gakpo even though it meant, with Rio Ngumoha also on the books, boasting four senior wide options that all favour playing on the left.
However, it has emerged that another player was potentially on Liverpool’s transfer shortlist with Crysencio Summerville’s personal trainer, who is also described as a ‘second father’ to the player, claiming the Reds were one of a number of sides who wanted to sign the forward last summer.
The 24-year-old ended up leaving relegated West Ham United to move to the Saudi Pro League to sign for Al-Hilal in a deal worth up to £60m.
And Summerville's 'second father', Ivandro Monteiro, has revealed he urged the forward to not reject the lucrative offer in front of him and to move to the Middle East.

“He called me at one point and said: ‘You’re not going to believe this,’” Monteiro revealed to ESPN NL. “He told me that a lot of clubs were interested.
“Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, AS Roma, Liverpool, Manchester United… all clubs that had spoken to him. I said to him: ‘Just wait. See what happens. You never know’.
“(A few days later) He said: ‘Listen to this, this is crazy’. Then he told me about Al-Hilal and what they would be willing to pay for him.
“And he would earn a lot more there too. I said immediately: ‘Boy, pack your bags and go. Don’t think about it’.
“You are still young and you can always go back. The competition is tough and people underestimate the level there.
“But for him, it was a new challenge and a chance to develop further. For the last three or four months, he has been playing at a high level in almost every match.
“He is very consistent. I have seen him grow as a footballer, but also as a person. He has always had that discipline. He always wants to improve.
“I think he could even become the best striker in Europe. If you look at players his age, I see few guys who are much better.
“A club doesn’t automatically make you better. Many people think that a good club makes a player better, but you mainly have to invest in yourself.
“If you keep training in your spare time and want to improve yourself, a trainer will see that too.
“Crysencio is such a person. He always wants to be the best and doesn’t just sit back.”
