Manchester City will take on Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday, October 11, with kick-off scheduled for 16:30 BST at Anfield.
The fixture will be the first for both sides after the September/October international break. City beat Sunderland 5-3 at the Etihad Stadium in their last game, while Liverpool secured a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth to extend their unbeaten start to seven games in all competitions.
Man City could be without several players, with Nico O’Reilly having withdrawn from the England squad due to injury. The left-back played the full 3-2 defeat to Spain but missed Tuesday’s 2-0 win over the Czech Republic.
O’Reilly has returned to Manchester City for further assessment and will miss England’s remaining Nations League fixtures. No replacement has been called up.
A statement from the England national team read: “Nico O’Reilly has returned to Manchester City and will play no part in the forthcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures.
“The left-back sat out the 2-0 victory against Czechia in Prague and has now returned to his club for further assessment.
“No further replacements are planned as the Three Lions prepare to face Croatia in Rijeka on Saturday before returning to Wembley to take on Czechia on Tuesday.”
Lewis Hall replaced O’Reilly against the Czech Republic, with the Newcastle United full-back linking up well with former Magpies teammate Anthony Gordon on England’s left flank.
O’Reilly becomes the sixth England player to withdraw from Thomas Tuchel’s squad through injury. The 21-year-old joins Cole Palmer, Declan Rice, Marcus Rashford, Kobbie Mainoo and Tino Livramento on the sidelines.
Manchester City hammered Liverpool 4-0 in their last meeting, with Erling Haaland scoring a hat-trick and Antoine Semenyo also finding the net in the FA Cup quarter-final at the Etihad Stadium in April.
City also won both Premier League meetings last season, beating Liverpool 3-0 at the Etihad before securing a dramatic late victory at Anfield in February.
