A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has on Thursday secured for himself a prestigious individual prize. This comes amid confirmation that João Cancelo has beaten out the competition to the Goal of the Month award in Spain’s top-flight.
Portuguese international Cancelo marked his first start of the new La Liga season with nothing short of a spectacular performance back on September 16th.
In from the off at left-back in a meeting with Rayo Vallecano, the former Manchester City man was responsible for a pair of stunning goals from distance.
And one such strike, as alluded to above, has since been voted as the Spanish top tier’s very best for the entire month of September.
Picking the ball up in an advanced position outside the Rayo penalty area, Cancelo cut inside onto his right foot, before bending a sumptuous effort into the far top corner.
