Michael Olise still on Liverpool’s radar ahead of 2027

Liverpool lost several key players during the 2026 summer transfer window, including Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah and Ibrahima Konate.

The early signs suggest Jeremy Jacquet could be an adequate replacement for Konate, but questions remain over Milos Kerkez’s long-term future at left-back.

Liverpool also completed the big-money signing of Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain, although the France international prefers to operate from the left, while Salah enjoyed his greatest success at Anfield from the opposite flank.

It would therefore be no surprise to see Liverpool target a right-sided forward in 2027. The Reds were heavily linked with moves for Premier League duo Ismaila Sarr and Yankuba Minteh towards the end of the summer window, despite keeping Cody Gakpo at the club amid interest from Manchester City.

Sarr and Minteh were both keen on joining Liverpool, with the latter reportedly still interested in a future move to Anfield. However, new sporting director Julian Ward could be targeting an even bigger name.

According to German outlet SportBild, Liverpool still have Michael Olise on their radar ahead of 2027. The Reds have been linked with the winger in the past and have shown their willingness to spend more than £100million on the right player following the arrivals of Barcola, Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak.

Bayern Munich are expected to begin initial talks with Olise over a new contract in the coming weeks, once Harry Kane’s future is resolved.

The Bundesliga champions reportedly expect negotiations to be difficult, despite being willing to make the 24-year-old one of their highest-paid players if he agrees to extend his contract until 2032.

Olise reportedly want a release clause included in the new deal, similar to the one that allowed Bayern to sign him from Crystal Palace.

Bayern are reluctant to agree to such a clause as they look to retain their best players or secure the highest possible transfer fees should they eventually sell to European rivals.

Sporting director Max Eberl has already issued Olise a gentle ultimatum. In an interview with SportBild in September, he said: “We should know by next summer whether he’s inclined to extend his contract or not.”
