Manchester City possibly ending up in the fourth tier of English football is now becoming a real possibility.

While everyone was expecting a miserable and boring three-week international break, it has turned into one of the most remarkable periods in English football history, not just for Liverpool fans, but for the footballing world.

The Premier League has officially charged Manchester City for breaching financial rules, as Gabby Agbonlahor predicted where many of their high-profile players will end up if they are demoted to the lower leagues, including backing Nico O’Reilly and Antoine Semenyo to make the switch to Anfield.

Semenyo is a player Liverpool should have signed before his transfer to Manchester City from Bournemouth last January, as his old boss Andoni Iraola is now on the other end of the divide.

Agbonlahor told talkSPORT that the versatile forward ‘walks into’ Liverpool’s starting XI, given his qualities and ability to play on either flank.

The Reds are stacked on the left-hand side, so another option isn’t needed, but they could do with a right winger, as Semenyo is more than capable of playing that role, as he proved under Iraola.

But another interesting name Agbonlahor threw into the picture is England’s rising star O’Reilly, who can operate at left-back and in the middle of the park.

The former Aston Villa striker stated that Kostas Tsimikas is Liverpool’s back-up option and Milos Kerkez ‘hasn’t been at the level.’

Agbonlahor backed O’Reilly to get ahead of both of them on the left side of fullback, not forgetting his ability to play as a number ten, as he explained on talkSPORT.

“Nico O’Reilly, I say Liverpool,” said Agbonlahor. “They are dying for a left-back. Tsimikas is their second choice, and Kerkez hasn’t been at the level. I think that would be a great move for Nico O’Reilly.

“Then I am going for Antoine Semenyo to Liverpool. He walks into their side on the left-hand side or the right-hand side. He is the perfect player for Liverpool.

“So, if they do get the charges and go down to League 2, then I think there is some great business there for some of the Premier League greats.”
