A number of Liverpool's stars were back in international action on Thursday evening, most notably those representing European teams in the Nations League.

‌

We're over halfway through the break, and the Netherlands, Greece, Germany, and Wales played the third of their four games. Five Liverpool stars were in action in total, while two of them were able to find the back of the net.

Fortunately, there were no fresh injury concerns during the games as three of them completed a full 90 minutes. Of the other two, one started and was substituted, while the other came off the bench in the second half.

So, with all that said, here's a look at the latest Liverpool international roundup.

Florian Wirtz (Germany)

The performance that will have everyone talking is undoubtedly that of Florian Wirtz. The 23-year-old has come under intense criticism in recent weeks after a slow start to the season for Liverpool, but it's fair to say his star was shining as Germany secured a much-needed 2-0 victory over Serbia.

Wirtz was central to absolutely everything positive Germany did, while he was also heavily involved in the build-up to the first goal. After some quite simply mesmerizing footwork in the box, his shot on goal bounced off the post and into the path of Tom Bischof from close range.

While it wasn't necessarily his goal, it was all his work in the box that made it happen. Wirtz then got the accolades he richly deserved with a fantastic strike in the second half to make it two.

Liverpool will hope Wirtz can follow it up with not only another strong performance for Germany on Sunday, but a good run of form when club football returns next weekend. But for now, he got a much-deserved Jurgen Klopp hug at the full-time whistle as the pair shared a moment after Germany's first victory in this new era.

Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch (Netherlands)

Elsewhere in the group, the Netherlands was held to a 2-2 draw against Greece, which has been flying this international break with wins over Serbia and Germany. Virgil van Dijk started the game, but his side found itself two goals down at halftime.

The Liverpool captain pulled the first goal back on the hour mark with a bullet header from a corner. Tijjani Reijnders then scored the equalizer just before the 90th minute to earn Xavi's side a crucial point.

Ryan Gravenberch didn't start the game but came on as a substitute in the second half, replacing Quinten Timber. Jeremie Frimpong was an unused substitute as his wait for minutes this international break rumbles on.

Kostas Tsimikas (Greece)

On the opposing side was Kostas Tsimikas, who has completed 90 minutes in each of Greece's matches so far. Thursday night against the Netherlands was no different as his side cruised into a two-goal lead.

Fotis Ioannidis and Giorgos Masouras were the goalscorers for Greece, which has been a surprise contender in the group alongside the Netherlands and Germany. Of course, its recent victory over the latter inflicted the first defeat of Klopp's reign.

As things stand, Greece remains top of the group on seven points, followed by the Netherlands on five and Germany on four. Next up, it will hope to inflict further damage on Germany, which will be buoyed by its first win.

Lewis Koumas (Wales)

In Group D of the Nations League, Wales secured its first win of the group phase against Norway. Lewis Koumas started the game, having featured in his country's first two matches against Portugal and Denmark.

Wales initially fell behind to an Oscar Bobb goal but pulled itself back level through Daniel James. Norway was then reduced to 10 men at the start of the second half as Torbjorn Heggem was shown a straight red card for a last-man challenge.

Moments later, Wales went on to take the lead through former Red Neco Williams. Koumas was later replaced by Mark Harris with five minutes left to play.
