Man Utd are among eight Premier League clubs who have made enquiries about Como midfielder Lucas Da Cunha in recent months, according to reports.
TEAMtalk claim that the Red Devils have shown strong interest in the Frenchman, who was given his first senior cap by Zinedine Zidane against Belgium earlier this week.
It is believed that Michael Carrick‘s side have explored a move for Da Cunha, although it is felt that Chelsea, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth are the teams most closely watching his progress at the moment.
Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Brighton have also considered bids for the 25-year-old in the past, but it seems the 25-year-old’s decision to sign a new contract back in July did put off many suitors.
What do fans need to know about Da Cunha?
The midfielder was born in France, but he also has Portuguese ancestry, so he did have the option of playing for either country prior to his competitive debut for Les Bleus.
Da Cunha came through the academy of Rennes before joining Nice in 2020. He struggled for game time and was loaned out twice (to Lausanne-Sport and Clermont) before being offloaded to Como two and a half years later.
The Frenchman played for the Italian club in Serie B initially, helping them secure promotion in his first full season. He has subsequently played an integral role in establishing Cesc Fabregas’s team in the top flight, as well as qualifying for the Champions League last campaign.

Man Utd are no longer in the market for midfielders
While some fans will dispute the quality of the players brought in during the summer transfer window, the fact is that the midfield is no longer an area that requires further strengthening.
The recruitment team are clearly fans of Da Cunha, having reportedly made contact with Como about signing him previously, but you have to imagine that their interest has now cooled considerably.
