Andrée Jeglertz says our 1-1 draw with Real Madrid was the latest opportunity for him and his team to learn and adapt.
City again on the European stage fought relentlessly from behind to secure a point in our latest UEFA Women’s Champions League test.
Linda Caicedo put Real Madrid ahead in the first half before Bunny Shaw’s clinical second-half strike meant the spoils were shared in an evenly contested affair.
And for Jeglertz, the European test has once again provided key learnings for the squad.
“We learn a lot playing these games,” began Jeglertz.
“We know that it’s tough games. And we definitely are here to go as far as we can in this tournament. But we also know if you are a little bit late in the duel, if you lose the ball in not ideal situations, the opponent will punish you in a different way.
“That is definitely what we have seen in this tournament and the other games too. So we definitely need to be a little bit sharper.”

It’s two points from two in our first set of League Phase fixtures.
The first was a 2-2 draw at Bayern Munich with first City goals from Beth Mead and Carlotta Wamser completing our comeback in a difficult opening away game.
And a draw at the Joie against an unbeaten Real Madrid outfit in all competitions shows City are moving in the right direction.
And for the City boss, that direction is us knowing what it takes to go to the next level in the prestigious competition.
“We played those two teams that’s definitely on a very high level,” said Jeglertz.
“But I think if you want to go far in this tournament you also need to win these games.
“Partly we didn’t lose, we have two points. One away against Bayern and here and we have done two good halves.
“We are still looking to get 90 minutes where we feel we can do a great game. It is okay, it’s an okay start of Champions League. It’s not ideal but we are in the tournament now and we know what’s needed from us in the rest of the tournament.”
