Renato Gonçalves Renato Goncalves is the deputy manager of Barca Blaugranes and has been writing for the site since all the way back in 2014. He’s a massive sports fan and has been crazy about Barcelona ever since Rivaldo scored that bicycle kick in 2001.
A new report from Diario SPORT on Friday revealed the top selling shirts in the early weeks of the new Barcelona season, and it is no surprise that Lamine Yamal is by far and away at the top of the list. But another member of Spain’s World Cup winning squad is also quite popular among the supporters.
The report says Rodri’s number 16 shirt is already in the Top 5 behind Yamal, captain Raphinha, Pedri and, somewhat surprisingly, Pau Cubarsí. Rodri’s numbers have even surpassed Gavi, who has always been very popular among Barça fans, and Fermín López, who is also attracting plenty of interest since switching to number 7.
Another new signing who is getting good shirt sale numbers is Anthony Gordon, who quickly became a fan favorite with his performances early in the season.
Those eight players are responsible for the vast majority of the profits from shirt sales, according to the report, and Rodri’s presence in the Top 5 speaks to his standing in the game and just how much excitement his signing generated among fans this summer.
