Everton reportedly played out a 3-3 draw with Blackburn Rovers in a behind-closed-doors friendly at the Hill Dickinson during the international break.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Charly Alcaraz, Thierno Barry and 16-year-old Jonathan Nsangou scored for David Moyes’ side in the six-goal contest.
The fixture gave Moyes an opportunity to use players who have remained on Merseyside while a sizeable group of his first-team squad are away on international duty.
Nsangou among Everton scorers
Alcaraz is reported to have opened the scoring inside eight minutes, confidently converting from the penalty spot to give Everton an early lead.
Barry was also on target, adding another goal after scoring five times for Everton during the opening weeks of the season.
The most eye-catching contribution, however, came from Nsangou. The 16-year-old academy prospect is reported to have found the net against Blackburn as he continues his progress through Everton’s youth system.
The Echo also notes that Nsangou has previously spoken of his ambition to win the Ballon d’Or, making his involvement alongside senior players another notable step at an early stage of his development.
Few further details of the game have emerged. No complete Everton line-up has been reported and there is little information about Blackburn’s three goals or how the contest unfolded.
Charley notches too
That makes it difficult to draw any wider conclusions from the 3-3 scoreline, but the purpose of arranging the fixture during an international break is clear.
For Moyes, it provided a chance to keep members of his remaining squad involved in match action while also opening the door for academy players such as Nsangou.
For Alcaraz, Barry and the 16-year-old, there was the added benefit of getting their names on the scoresheet before Everton return to competitive action.
