A month that starts with a derby and ends on the road needs a shortlist, not a highlight reel. Four names is a choice. One winner is a ballot.
Goalkeepers get on these lists when the saves are worth a nomination of their own. Midfielders get on them when a substitute goal changes an away ground.
Defenders get on them for a first start and two clean sheets. Captains get on them for the goals that settled two different competitions.
Voting is open for Arsenal’s men’s Player of the Month for September. The club has named David Raya, Martin Odegaard, Bruno Guimaraes and Ezri Konsa. September began with a 2-1 win over Chelsea, then four straight away games and three wins across three competitions. No deadline is given on the club page.
Raya’s case is two saves that were both nominated for Premier League Save of the Month. He denied Estevao in stoppage time against Chelsea, then saved Enzo Le Fée’s penalty at Sunderland in a 2-0 win. The club calls those stops a reason the season has started fast.

Odegaard scored in the Chelsea win, finishing a team move to make it 2-1, then scored the only goal in a 1-0 Champions League win at Napoli. That took him to four goals for the season, more than he managed in the whole of 2025-26. He is in Norway’s squad for Wales tonight after an ankle scan showed no significant damage. A vote for him is a vote for the month, not a prediction he starts in Cardiff.
Guimarães came off the bench at half-time at the Stadium of Light and opened the scoring. He then started the 4-2 Carabao Cup win at Ipswich. This week he scored his fourth Brazil goal in a 4-2 win over Australia and is on an individual plan before he reports back. September was the month he announced himself. October is whether the hamstring-and-ankle list around him makes him undroppable.
Konsa made his first start against Chelsea, alongside Gabriel, and a sliding tackle on former teammate Morgan Rogers drew a roar. He then helped keep clean sheets against Napoli and Sunderland. A minor issue kept him out of England training. He was fit enough for the bench against Czechia.
Four candidates, one prize, no club favourite published. Raya has the saves. Odegaard has the two biggest goals. Guimarães has the arrival. Konsa has the clean sheets. The ballot is the only ranking that counts.
