Peter Crouch
Peter Crouch
Peter Crouch is a highly respected figure in Premier League history, having made almost 500 senior appearances in the competition for a number of top clubs, including Liverpool and Tottenham.
His impressive total of 108 goals in the English top flight earned him a place in the prestigious "100-club", making him one of only 34 players to reach that milestone.
Given his quality and wealth of experience playing in England, it's safe to say Crouch knows plenty about the game. He was recently asked which player he had played alongside stood out most from the rest, and while he recognised a host of stars, one Merseyside legend ultimately emerged as his answer.
Crouch Names Gerrard as His Best Ever Teammate
Peter Crouch and Steven Gerrard at Liverpool
Speaking to the FC Bullard podcast, via YouTube, Crouch revealed the best player he ever played alongside was none other than Steven Gerrard.
The former England international shared a dressing room with some exceptional talents, including Wayne Rooney, Luka Modric and Gareth Bale, but selecting the Liverpool legend instead highlights just how highly he regarded Gerrard.
Crouch joined Gerrard at Anfield in 2005, with the pair playing together for the Reds for three years. Indeed, it was the former who provided the assist for the latter's second goal in the 2006 FA Cup final, which Liverpool eventually won on penalties. The pair also helped the Merseyside club reach the Champions League final the following season, where they narrowly suffered a 2-1 defeat to AC Milan.
Crouch isn't the first person to make such lofty claims about his former Liverpool and England teammate. Lionel Messi previously named Gerrard "England's greatest ever player", while Cesc Fabregas selected the Champions League winner as his toughest ever opponent in the Premier League.
