Liverpool Ace ‘Hopes’ To Make Earlier Than Expected Comeback From Injury – Report
Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike is targeting a return to action in December, according to reports in the French media.
L’Equipe claim that the 24-year-old “hopes” to be fit earlier than expected, having ruptured his Achilles tendon against Paris Saint-Germain in April.
Reds head coach Andoni Iraola said last month that the club were looking to have Ekitike back for the last two Champions League group fixtures.
Those two matches against Inter Milan and Lens take place in January, so the forward clearly believes he can get back to full fitness earlier than the club.
How is Ekitike progressing with his rehabilitation?
It is believed that the France international was recently in the United States to see a specialist, which will give him a better idea of how well his recovery is progressing.
Ekitike has been making big strides. Only a few short months ago, he was pictured walking with a cane, but L’Equipe report he is now jogging.
The player is said to be aiming to return to training NEXT month, with the hope that he can play a competitive game at some point in December.
