Arsenal’s international break isn’t exactly going to plan.

The only thing any club side wants in these breaks is to come away unscathed in terms of injury and fitness problems, but, on this occasion, Arsenal haven’t had much luck at all.

Kai Havertz went down injured for Germany last week, Martin Odegaard picked up a knock for Norway, while Christos Tzolis has seemingly picked up a hamstring issue.

Despite not being Arsenal’s most important player, Tzolis’ injury is arguably the most worrying of the three here.

After selling Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli over the summer, Arsenal don’t have much depth down the left wing, but, there was one more low-key signing Arsenal made that could save them here.

James Scanlon could get early Arsenal chance

Arsenal signed James Scanlon from Manchester United this summer, and while there wasn’t much fanfare made about this deal, the teenager could get his Arsenal chance now.

The 20-year-old is a natural left winger, and while he’s yet to play for Arsenal, he’s started well at youth level, netting two goals in three games at PL2 level so far.

Let’s not forget, it wasn’t too long ago that Scanlon was one of the top academy products at Manchester United a few years ago – he scored 14 goals in 14 games at U18 level a couple of years ago.

Scanlon was touted for the top when he was at Manchester United, and while he’s not necessarily a Premier League stalwart, he has plenty of senior experience at international level.

Scanlon may have only celebrated his 20th birthday last week, but he has 27 senior international caps for Gibraltar and has played against some of the biggest and best around.

The youngster may not be ready to start for Arsenal every week, but with Tzolis out injured and fixtures piling up, he could well be in line for a few opportunities at the Emirates in the coming weeks.
