Arsenal and Tottenham could battle it out for Bournemouth forward Junior Kroupi during the January transfer window, according to reports.

The Sun claim that the 20-year-old is set to return to full fitness next month after recovering from a foot injury.

His availability is expected to “reignite” the race to sign him, and bids could potentially be lodged in the New Year.

Kroupi could have left Bournemouth in the summer, but the injury he sustained in pre-season ended any prospect of a transfer.

Arsenal will have to pay a sizeable sum

It is believed that Bournemouth will hold out for a record fee if clubs do make approaches in January, and the asking price is likely to be north of £80m.

The Cherries are thought to be confident that a team will meet their valuation, as Kroupi also has interest from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain.

After breaking the Premier League record for the most goals scored by a teenager last season, he is in high demand.

Where would Kroupi fit in at Arsenal?

The France Under-21 international’s preferred position is No. 9, but he can also be deployed on the left flank, and that profile perfectly suits what the Premier League champions are looking for.

Mikel Arteta’s side actively pursued both Vinicius Jr and Julian Alvarez in the summer. The former would have given Christos Tzolis competition on the left side, while Alvarez would have effectively replaced Viktor Gyokeres.

Kroupi would be a solution for both positions, and the fact that he is young and Premier League-proven makes him an even more attractive target. If he returns to action in November and starts banging in the goals, the Gunners will be very tempted to make a move.
