There are a number of former Everton players who’d be absolutely brilliant in this current team.

A prime Romelu Lukaku would solve a number of Everton’s current striking problems, Wayne Rooney would transform how this team looks going forwards, while it wouldn’t hurt to have a player like Mikel Arteta in the midfield either.

Speaking to the Premier League, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was asked which former Everton player he’d most like to play with, and he gave a rather interesting answer.

Lukaku in a heartbeat, we've never replaced him, but Baines definitely up there too

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall wishes he could play with Leighton Baines

Dewsbury-Hall was asked to name the one former Everton player he wishes he could bring into this current team.

Interestingly, the former Chelsea man named Leighton Baines as the former Toffee he’d love to play with now.

Anyone who saw Baines play at the peak of his powers can understand Dewsbury-Hall’s decision here. It’s no exaggeration to say that Baines was one of the best left-backs in the world in his pomp.

Vitaliy Mykolenko has been in great form to start this season, and he has earned plenty of praise, but a prime Baines would take the left side of David Moyes’ team to the next level.

Interestingly, Mykolenko also said he wishes he could’ve played with Baines.

Dewsbury-Hall would dovetail brilliantly with Baines, the midfielder wouldn’t necessarily be the one getting on the end of his crosses, he’d link up very well with Baines by feeding him down that left flank and creating opportunities for Baines to deliver to a player like Thierno Barry.

Sadly, we don’t have a time machine to bring a prime Baines back into this Everton side, but, if it were possible, Baines would be the type of player who could genuinely add a brilliant extra dynamic to this Everton side.
