Arsenal have been handed a big injury boost ahead of their Premier League clash against Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium next weekend.
The Gunners have made a tremendous start to the 2026/27 season, but they had a humbling experience after a 3-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion before the international break.
In the same game, Piero Hincapie was in the matchday squad after a minor groin injury, but he remained an unused substitute despite Riccardo Calafiori’s struggles at left-back.
Hincapie did not report for international duty with Ecuador because he was not fully fit. He has now been spotted in Arsenal training via an update on the club’s official website.
Alongside the 24-year-old, Cristhian Mosquera and Ben White were also involved after recovering from muscle and groin injuries, respectively, which kept them out of competitive action.
Mosquera started the season as Gabriel Magalhaes’ centre-back partner after William Saliba’s back issue. He continued as the regular after Ezri Konsa’s arrival before sustaining his injury against Aston Villa.
This paved the way for Konsa’s debut, and the Englishman should be fancied to continue as the right-sided centre-back when the Gunners take on Leeds United in the Premier League next Saturday.
Like Mosquera, White was Arsenal’s undisputed right-back at the start of the season after Jurrien Timber’s fitness issues, but concerns always lingered about his workload given his injury record.
The former Brighton & Hove Albion man eventually got injured at Sunderland, which coincided with Timber’s first appearance of the campaign. The Dutchman replaced White at half-time.
Timber has been carefully managed during the international break, with just 88 minutes of playing time for the Netherlands, and he will hope to start against Leeds at the Emirates on October 10.
White has had a shorter injury lay-off compared to Mosquera, and it remains to be seen whether he gets the nod over Timber at right-back. We would personally prefer him, given his excellent chemistry with Bukayo Saka. He tends to bring out the best in his compatriot.
