Miami Dolphins news: Pressure building on pass rush, Vikings game preview

The Miami Dolphins head into Week 4 of the 2026 NFL season looking to claim their first win. Miami is undergoing a massive rebuild this year, with changes made from the team president down through the front office, the coaching staff, and all across the roster, so the losses are not unexpected.

The lack of pass rush success is, however. Edge rusher Chop Robinson, in his third season, should be hitting his prime just as the team looks to him as its primary pass rusher, disrupting opposing quarterbacks and taking pressure off the rest of the defense, particularly the young players at cornerback. Through three games, Miami has totaled zero sacks - the only team in the league that has not taken down a quarterback.

David Furones from the South Florida Sun Sentinel looked at the pressure the defense is feeling to create pressure and finish with a sack:

While the sack total remains at zero, there was at least a spark from the Dolphins pass rush with increased pressure applied to quarterback Patrick Mahomes last Sunday compared with the first two losses against the Las Vegas Raiders and San Francisco 49ers. Mahomes was hit five times, not counting the questionable roughing-the-passer penalty assessed to Robinson.

“I thought that last week we took a step forward as far as getting pressure,” said linebacker Jordyn Brooks. “Whether that was knocking quarterback off his timing, getting him out of the pocket, getting hits on him, just being disruptive.”

What the heck is ESPN thinking?

ESPN put together a "way too early" list of candidates who could be shipped at the trade deadline and who did they pick to trade away from the Dolphins? They picked an Edge Rusher, Josh Uche. I wondered how could they pick an edge rusher when our guys can't get home with him on the team. How will they fare with him gone?

Then I realized the flipside of the argument would be, well if he isn't getting home anyway, then why not flip him for a draft pick next year? In that respect, it makes sense. So you tell me. The trade deadline isn't for another 1.5 months, but what would be your opinion on shipping out Uche for a draft pick and what kind of compensation do you think they'd get? A 6th or 7th rounder? What are your thoughts?

Josh Uche, Edge, Miami Dolphins

There are a lot of edge rushers on this list, but it's a spot at which teams are always looking for help. Uche signed a one-year, minimum deal with the Dolphins. He's a seven-year veteran who's playing well for a team in the first year of a significant rebuild. If the Dolphins get the opportunity to turn this signing into a useful draft pick, it's not at all hard to imagine them jumping on it.
