The international break is — thankfully — drawing to a close, with just a few more days for Liverpool’s players to navigate before attentions can be turned back to the Premier League.
The extended break has already taken its toll on Andoni Iraola’s side, with both Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo heading home early after picking up injuries, which leaves both as doubts for the visit of Manchester City next weekend.
Thankfully, there’s been no indication of any more nasty surprises emerging since then, although Dominik Szoboszlai did give Liverpool fans a little bit of a scare during Friday’s round of games.
Saturday saw three more Reds on duty, while one club legend brought up a major milestone. Here’s our roundup of the latest international action for Liverpool’s stars.
Victor Munoz
Victor Munoz was handed something of an unexpected opportunity as Spain made it three wins out of three during the international break with a 3-1 triumph over Czechia. Having scored within the first six minutes as the world champions cruised to a 2-0 lead in the first half, Lamine Yamal was surprisingly substituted at the break, with Liverpool’s Munoz coming on in his place.
The decision threatened to backfire when Jiri Slama pulled a goal back for the visitors in the 69th minute, but Spain’s job was made easier when Ladislav Krejci was sent off for a second yellow card with five minutes remaining.
Munoz made the most of his side’s advantage as he used his pace to break clear late on before seeing his effort saved, with Arsenal’s Mikel Merino on hand to convert on the rebound.
Rio Ngumoha
Rio Ngumoha might feel a little disappointed not to have been given a chance as England smashed Croatia 7-0.
Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka both scored twice as Jude Bellingham, Anthony Gordon and Morgan Rogers also got on the scoresheet. Former Red Jarell Quansah bagged himself an assist as he was favored over Trent Alexander-Arnold, who, like Ngumoha, didn’t even get onto the pitch.
Alexis Mac Allister
Alexis Mac Allister continued his good form as Argentina thrashed Burkina Faso 7-0 in a friendly in Buenos Aires.
The World Cup finalists raced into a 3-0 lead inside the opening 12 minutes before the Liverpool midfielder had a hand in the fourth, with his long ball forward leading to Nico Paz’s goal as Julian Alvarez added a fifth just a minute later.

With his side out of sight, Mac Allister was kept on as Lionel Scaloni made five changes at half-time, with the 27-year-old eventually making way with just over 20 minutes to go after Franco Mastantuono made it six, with Giuliano Simeone rounding off the scoring in stoppage time.
Andy Robertson
It was a night to remember for Reds legend Andy Robertson as the left-back brought up his 100th cap for Scotland and captained his country to a 2-0 win in North Macedonia.
Goals from Kieron Bowie and John McGinn gave Sebastien Pocognoli his first win in charge of the Scots, and not even Scott McKenna’s late sending-off could spoil Robertson’s evening. The 32-year-old is now just two appearances off Sir Kenny Dalglish’s record for Scotland, and he will be expected to go within one against Slovenia on Tuesday.
