European giants plotting surprise move to sign Liverpool star - Reports

Juventus are reportedly interested in signing Liverpool star Giovanni Leoni. The Italian giants are hoping to sign the defender on loan.

The Reds signed Leoni from Parma for £26 million in the summer of 2025. However, he suffered an ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) injury in his first appearance for them. He hasn't featured for the club since then, but is expected to return to the squad after the ongoing international break.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via The Standard), Juventus are interested in signing Leoni despite uncertainty about his fitness. They are hoping to rebuild an Italian core in the team and are monitoring the 19-year-old. Leoni made 17 Serie A appearances for Parma before joining Liverpool.

The Bianconeri, meanwhile, also monitored Riccardo Calafiori and Marco Palestra as potential targets. However, Arsenal and Chelsea, respectively, will demand a big fee to part with them. Hence, Juventus have moved for Leoni and made multiple approaches for him, but Liverpool have rejected them.

Along with Leoni, Juventus are monitoring Brentford's Michael Kayode. The Italian defender was part of the Bianconeri's academy for a few years. He made 31 senior appearances for Fiorentina before joining Brentford. He has also earned two Italian caps during the ongoing international breaks and scored one goal.

Juventus monitoring two more Liverpool stars for next summer: Reports

According to Gazzetta dello Sport and Tuttosport (via Football Italia), the Bianconeri are also monitoring Liverpool legends Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker. They are interested in signing the duo next summer to strengthen their backline.

Gleison Bremer has been linked away from Juventus and could potentially depart next summer. Hence, the Italian giants are looking to replace him with Van Dijk. They also sent scouts to the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam for the Netherlands' 1-1 draw against Germany on September 24. They scouted Van Dijk and Brian Brobbey.

Moreover, they are interested in signing Alisson. The goalkeeper made 15 appearances under Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti at AS Roma. Both his and Van Dijk's contracts at Anfield expire next summer. The Italian giants believe they can convince them to join at reduced wages.

Van Dijk and Alisson have been crucial for Liverpool since joining them in January and July 2018, respectively, winning numerous trophies. The Dutch defender has made 380 appearances for them and has also contributed 36 goals and 16 assists. Meanwhile, Alisson has kept 140 clean sheets in 339 games for them.
