“Top of Liverpool's watchlist”: Potential January signing would cost €65m

**Brentford right-back Michael Kayode is a target for Liverpool after his rise to prominence with the Bees and his starring role for the Italian national team.**

Liverpool have had major issues at right-back since Trent Alexander-Arnold left the club for Real Madrid, although you could argue that their issues in the role started several months before he left when it was obvious that his head had been turned by Los Blancos.

TAA was then replaced by Jeremie Frimpong, although his signing only really makes sense if you imagine that the club might have only signed him to convince Florian Wirtz to make the move to Anfield. This is just pure speculation, but his performances have been so poor for the Reds that it’s hard to see what the club’s scouts saw in him before the £29.5m was paid to Bayer Leverkusen for his signature.

Now, with Conor Bradley still yet to return from the injury and subsequent surgery that he suffered against Arsenal in January, it’s possible that Liverpool could enter the January transfer window to solve their right-back problems.

Ronald Araujo has done an admirable job at right-back, and I’d be quite happy to keep him there, but Liverpool really do need a top right-back to solve this problem.

Kayod could be Liverpool’s right-back solution

According to a report from [Caught Offside](https://www.caughtoffside.com/2026/10/04/sources-liverpool-have-e65m-defender-on-top-of-their-watchlist-as-arsenal-tottenham-join-race/), Liverpool have made Kayode one of their top transfer targets, although they face interest from several Premier League sides, while most of Europe’s big teams appear to be keeping a close eye on the 22-year-old.

Caught Offside reports: _“Sources have informed CaughtOffside that Liverpool have placed Kayode at the “top of their watchlist” as they look to strengthen right?back rotation. Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle United are also monitoring him to add athleticism to their defensive lines. Meanwhile, Juventus and other Serie A clubs are tracking his progress closely, given his youth background at Juventus and Fiorentina, and hope to bring him back to Italy._

_“At present, no official bid has been submitted to Brentford, and no direct negotiations have begun. The process remains in the “monitoring and reporting” stage ahead of the winter window._

_“Signed from Fiorentina in 2025 for €17.5M, Kayode’s market value has climbed to around €40M. Brentford are expected to demand at least €60?65M for any serious talks.”_
