Liverpool-linked defender Alejandro Balde does not want to leave Barcelona, according to reports, despite the club seemingly looking to push through an exit in the coming months.

The left-back has struggled for game time so far this season, picking up just 12 minutes of action in La Liga, as head coach Hansi Flick has relied on other options instead.

That follows a summer in which the Spaniard was linked with an exit, with Manchester United seemingly keen on a switch, but he ultimately decided to stay at the Nou Camp to fight for a place in the team. The lack of minutes since has raised questions about whether Balde will stay at Barcelona, whether that comes in the form of an exit in January, or in the following summer market.

Links with an exit have ramped up amid that uncertainty, with Liverpool among the teams seemingly showing interest in the left-back as an option for future transfer windows, alongside other Premier League clubs.

Despite that interest, and the stance surrounding an exit from Barcelona, Marca reports that the player isn't currently willing to change his mind on his future.

It's claimed that the defender believes he will get more minutes and is persisting with staying in Catalonia for now, with thoughts surrounding an exit in January not currently on his mind.

With a deal that expires in 2028, Barcelona is keen to move the 22-year-old on; however, this creates a potential stalemate that could bring some tension between the two parties, while interested clubs watch on to see how the saga plays out.

Should the defender change his stance, then the report adds that the Blaugrana believes he is valued at roughly €60 million ($67.5 million), which could then be reinvested into the squad.

It sets up an interesting dynamic for Liverpool to monitor, should it decide the left-back ranks need strengthening over the next year or so.

The Reds currently have Milos Kerkez and Kostas Tsimikas in that position, though the former has struggled to hit the heights he managed at Bournemouth, while the latter has a contract that will expire at the end of the season, unless an extension is agreed before then.

That could pave the way for someone like Balde to join and add further competition there, but there may be some concerns about the valuation for a player nearing the final year of his contract, as well as the other priorities that may be in the squad for transfers over the months ahead.

There is plenty of time between now and then for both Liverpool, and the player, to make a decision. However, it will be an interesting development to watch in the months ahead.
