Manchester City icon Sergio Aguero has hailed Chelsea star Cole Palmer, labelling him the Blues' best player currently.

Cole Palmer joined Chelsea in 2023 from Manchester City after failing to feature regularly for the then Pep Guardiola-led side. After a subdued 2025-26 season, which saw him miss out on a spot in the England squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Palmer has shone for the Blues so far this season.

The Chelsea midfielder has already registered four goals and two assists in seven appearances this season. Former Manchester City star Sergio Aguero has lavished praise on Palmer and explained why he is thriving at the Blues after leaving the Cityzens. Speaking to Stake (via GOAL), he said:

"I played with Cole Palmer, and I love him as a player. I think he’s spectacular. When I was there, he didn’t have many opportunities to play for City because there were many top-level players who were also in good form.

"Moving has worked well because he needed to play. In my opinion, he’s Chelsea's best player today. He can score or provide an assist at any moment and make the difference."

He then explained what the Blues must do to ensure the team doesn't suffer in games. He said:

"Even if you have an excellent front three, if the team isn’t solid in midfield or defence, the forwards can score three goals and the opposition will score four. You’ll end up losing 4-3. To sustain a front three that you know is very good, you also need a reliable structure behind them so that the team doesn’t suffer so much."

The Blues will look to bounce back from a 3-0 loss against Brentford when they return from the international break. They are winless in their last 3 PL games and will hope to turn the tide around when they take on Bournemouth at home.

Chelsea to reignite interest in Barcelona star in January: Reports

The Blues are reportedly keen on a deal for Barcelona defender Jules Kounde. The French defender has started just two of Barcelona’s eight matches, while remaining on the bench for the other six. According to Mundo Deportivo (via Daily Sports), the London giants are considering a move for the star after seeing his reduced role with the Catalan giants.

Kounde has not expressed any desire to leave Barcelona, but if the situation changes, the Blues are likely to make a move for him in the January transfer window.
