Hemp moves third in City all-time appearance rankings
Lauren Hemp has moved into the top three for all-time Manchester City appearances after featuring for the 205th time.
The 26-year-old marked the special occasion by grabbing a brace in a thrilling 4-2 win over Arsenal, which extended our 100% WSL record this season.
Hemp’s 205th appearance saw her overtake Demi Stokes, meaning she’s now only behind Keira Walsh (211) and Steph Houghton (242) after joining us in May 2018 from Bristol City.
In that period, the winger has established herself as one of the most influential figures in our recent history and across the WSL.
Hemp’s impact on the league is one to marvel – she’s the longest serving member of our current squad and also boasts six major honours in her eight full seasons in Manchester.
She has been the driving force behind City’s success and played an instrumental role in our FA Cup and WSL trophy triumphs last season.
Hemp has found the net 78 times in that time, with only Bunny Shaw (124) scoring more.
And that was proven more than ever against the Gunners as she carved out our first and third goals of the afternoon to help the pendulum swing in our favour as we came from behind twice.
She also set up Kerstin Casparij’s 63rd minute equaliser in a typical standout performance, deservedly being named Player of the Match.
Everyone at City would like to congratulate Lauren on moving third in our all-time appearance rankings.
